Can the \"cream puff\'s\" handle a s/c ?

I am seriously considering a supercharger and was curious if a post-1999 motor could withstand the boost without changing out the pistons? If a piston change out is required, how much should I expect to pay for parts and labor in this type of swap?

as long as you stay with a low boost pully you will be fine,if you decide to increase the boost then you need to go to forged pistons...we can help then.plenty of "creampuff" cars out there now with Roe S.C and stock pistons.GO FOR IT

Jason Heffner (410 766-2800) has supercharged a few post-1999 Vipers with good results. The key is low boost. If you want max horsepower, you'll need to change out the pistons. That's what I ended up doing. My "creampuff" puts out over 844 to the rear wheels on pump gas!

Give Jason a call. He's located near Baltimore, MD not too far from you.

That is insane. Can you ever get on it without going up in smoke? I know I'm just jealous. Enjoy!!!

The nice thing about my S/C setup is that if you drive it "normally" it is very docile. But, yes, if you punch it, it can definitely smoke the tires. The power is very usable, you just have to learn how to use it!

What type of fuel management and timing management system is installed on your 844rwhp car?

Are the pistons about the only internal mod that had to be done to yield that much power?

Sorry it took so long to respond. For fuel management, my car has the DASTEK piggyback computer. DASTEK hasn't completed the software to control timing yet (for Vipers), but it works well for controlling fuel. There's also a fuel pressure regulator (Vortech). For timing, I have an MSD boost timing retard box.

I'm interested to see how the VEC2 works out since it controls boost and timing. I may change over to that system if it looks like there are any advantages for my particular setup.

Before Jason Heffner did any of his S/C upgrades, my engine already had ported/polished heads and T&D roller rockers.
