I've installed a set of Belanger headers with the Random high flow cats. However the Mopar Borla CAT backs I have is supposed to mate up to the stock CAT with 2.5" outlet. Now with the Random 3" outlet I would need to step it down back to 2.5 which kinda defeats the purpose. Can I just get rid of the resonator and put in a straight through or is there a good alternative 3" resonator that I can use? I was told by the shop that if I got rid of the resonator it would be unbearably loud.

Help!

I replaced the factory resonator with some 3" 'Cheese grator' types from Summit. I think they are made by Dyno Max. The resonator is a must have if you dont want the gurgle and popping sounds under de-accel. I ran without them at one time and the sound was unbearable. Cool for five minutes and annoying for the rest of the time. My experience ensured that I will NEVER run without a cheese grator again.

Jon B at Parts Rack has an adapter that will solve your problem. You cut the inlet off the resonator and weld on the adapter to the random tech cat. I just did mine yesterday and it's no big deal.

Jason,

Do you remember what the chees grater was called?

I called Borla and they suggested the same thing to cut off the resonator inlet and weld on an adapter but that really doesn't solve the restriction problem. The restricting would be in the inlet of the resonator instead of the adapter in front of the resonator.
