I bought my car (98 gts) and it had stock cats...quiet and sill/ footwell temps very high. Went to random tech high flow cars...less heat, IMO not much difference in sound ( previous owner had done a side exhaust conversion). Am now running no cats and a B&B exhaust...certainly loud and I do notice the smell but not overbearing. Very little sill heat now. I really prefer the sound without cats...I haven't had the level of fumes that fanboy mentions.

No cats. Just remember that you will have a little extra "grime" on the rear end. A simple application of Scratch-X/quick wax of the area every other wash takes care of the problem. D

I have a 3" Borla (2 muffler) cat back and Magnaflow high flows. Sounds awesome but I want more pop and crackle on decel and even lower sil temps.

I'm taking off the cats this winter. I won't mind the smell at all since I've had Mustangs with off road pipes since I was 16 years old and enjoy the ******** raw exhaust.

Has anyone taken their cats off? If so what gains were noticed if any. Dyno HP? Tips suggestions? My buddies 92 RT is Catless its louder, the smell of exaust is more prominent but not sure it the HP gain is worth the trouble. Insites... Go!

Roe cat delete side exhaust claims 20 rwhp and torque I believe. Sounds better runs better looks better, ive never noticed exhaust smell after they have been run a few times. And they do get progressively louder for the first 100 miles or so. Definitely worth the money.

My 2001 rt was going in to Tator for aftermarket exhaust so I ordered a set of high flow cats from Roe and Chuck called and told me the car had cat deletes in it so we kept it that way ,no smell no cels

I run with no cats through a Bellanger rear exit 3 inch cat back system and currently stock headers, Its Loud 128 db I do have trouble with the exhaust smells, But this is also down to the trunk vents not sealing properly, so you end up with exhaust fumes in the car sometimes. It makes your eyes sting after a long run and one can feel a little nauseous. When I change out my headers Im going 3 inch Hi Flows ;)

Prefer ** flo cats than no cats especially in states that are tough on emissions testing like Texas. CEL problems can be a nightmare though.

Putting these in next week (on backorder) at the turnout of my Bellagers and will feed into my Corsa. I had spiral flow before the Corsa but I actually torn the insides loose on one side due to the heat and flow I have. Regardless, I'm tired of the noise, smell, soot, and all around pain of an open exhaust. My ears are ringing a lot now after driving. I'd run hi flo cats again (have some new ones on the shelf) but they cook-off and burn the side sill paint. That scares the crap out of me. Maybe if I wasn't pushing as much exhaust as I am I'd feel differently, but after going through a dozen or so different exhaust set-ups...Flowmaster glass packs, spiral flow, perforated tube, hi flo cats, etcetera, I think a semi-baffled system in lieu of a cat will tone things back a bit. The best sound I have gotten is a hi flo cat into the spiral flow into the Corsa...but just too much heat is generated by the cats. I wish you well.

Good point on the CEL light, I too got that every 70 miles or so, I ended up getting a pair of 02 sims for the rear sensors, plugged them in and have not had a code light since.

Trouble is 02 sims are now I believe illegal to be sold in the USA?

I've got high flows with small bullet mufflers on the side and rear muffler delete, and it's quite loud. Remember, louder is not necessarily better, and even though it might sound great initially, you'll soon find that not being able to have a conversation in the car and having to wear earplugs will get tiring pretty soon.

The smell detered me from going catless. I also seem to remember a few cars actually catching fire on the rear bumper from being catless. It could very well have been a tuning issue. I just remember it was more than one catless Viper that experienced it.

My buddy was always complaining about the paint t blistering along the rockers and side exhaust pipes of his 93 RT/10. Then he goes and removes the Cats which to me was counterproductive to his complaint lol.. Exhaust smell is more prominent, Louder but he claims a 50hp gain.. Not sure though.. My GTS is in the Shop being painted.. She is in Pieces a complete mess. made the mistake of going down there lol..

I am thinking of going catless just to protect the paint on my rockers. My rockers are pristine now, but how long can the paint handle that kind of heat
