changing hood to "locking" hood???

changing hood to \"locking\" hood???

I am thinking about changing my hood to use the locking "screws" instead of the way it shuts now and was wondering if anyone had done it? Here would be my use for it. I do NOT race (track) so I am not concerned about purchasing one that is lite but I am in car shows almost weekly and am constantly open and closing the hood. We all know the car looks MUCH cooler with the hood off. I have a friend that is making me a stand for it so that I can take it off and set the hood on the stand at a car show but I'm not sure if this 1. Can be done 2. Should be done (I'm sure I will get plenty of these).

I know if someone screws up the hood it will be costly just looking for advice here and the parts needed (and where to purchase them). Again I am NOT interested in purchasing a new hood to do this.

You might check with John Hennessey. I believe the Hennessey 650R with the full body mods has a fully removable hood. You will have to forgo your hood hinges etc but in return you will save weight. Definitely a two person venture to access the engine. (JD)
