While waiting for my engine to be completed....,

I decided to get the rest of my '01 "ready". The car is currently gutted and getting a 10 pt. cage, some frame work.... and possibly a 2 speed.

Scott, at Griffin Racecraft, offered some suggestions....
We are talking about installing a "trick" Ford 9 in. diff.. My other option is the Mark Williams IRS set up.
Since this isn't a common mod., I am looking for some info from anyone that has done either.

I know that VIPER TT is/was using the MW IRS set up to go 7.52

Any experience or info is appreciated...

I saw your guys post on yellow bullet about the cage. I'm taking some pictures tomorrow for him of my cage. Good luck with it.

my favorite streetable viper no holds barred (straight line) setup :headbang:

do the 2 speed :2tu:

I agree. I must have watched it a million times...

I AM going to do the 2 speed... Probably not till this Winter though. I started this part of the "project" with getting a 6 pt. roll bar.

Now I'm getting a 10 pt cage and pullin' the IRS stuff out and fitting a solid axle....

Never ends....:dunno:

If you are looking for ultimate 1/4 mile performance a good 9" is your best bet, but you also need to install it properly with the right geometry.

And a power glide is your best friend for 1/4 mile racing on a budget, just remember its the torque converter that deserves the most attention $$$ not the trans.

What are you trying to do with the car? The viper doesn't make a very competitive outlaw style car. You just looking to make fast time runs?

By budget I mean that you dont have a permanent 4-5 man crew constantly pulling out your Lenco trans and adjusting your clutch to the track after every pass.

Basically build a nice looking, somewhat fast, 1/4 mile car.... :dunno:

Not trying to build for any certain class or bracket. Just something that I can drive on the dragstrip and an occasional "street appearance"....:D

Some serious things going on with this build.:)

Got the new KB 2.8...
Got an AEM ECU...
10 pt and framework being done right now.
Added a few other "things" also.

I ordered the 9-inch....

In the process of picking wheels and tires now. Looking at Billett Specialties Comp 5 double bead locks. Front and back.
