Where are they? I searched, and found out that there are 2. I checked all the fuses in the box under the steering wheel, and they all look OK

Have you checked the cig lighter socket with a voltmeter? Have you pulled the center console panel and made sure both of the wires are connected? Have you checked all of the fuses at the PDC?

The lighter fuse under the hood(15A at #4) was blown. I replaced it, and it blew right when I put it in. Disconnected the battery, put in another fuse. Didn't blow it, but still doesn't work. All the fuses under the steering wheel are OK.

I don't have a voltometer

I'm assuming you've reconnected the battery on the 2nd check that still doesn't work?

I would recommend pulling the center console and having a looksie under there. Since you don't have a voltmeter some of this will be a little tough, but you drive a Viper, you should have $20 for a cheap multimeter.

Pull that same fuse and check the wire that goes to the center terminal of the cig lighter to ground on ohms. If it is shorted that could be your problem.

Has this car had an aftermarket head put in or any other wiring changes to that area?

Also, short of pulling my manual out, what else is on that circuit?

oh ffs, I was wrong. it keeps blowing that fuse. I wasted 3 already.

yes, a headunit is on that line, but I also dis-assembled the lighter unit to re-upholster that panel. I THOUGHT I put it back the right way. I even took it apart to see if any of the center pieces are grounding on the outside of the housing. I don't have any nerves left for this thing tonight, I gotta get ready for new year's and pack for my trip tomorrow.

i don't have a voltmeter, but I have a tester. I used it to confirm power to all the other fuses, except the cig one obviously blows every time I reconnect the battery

Te fuse is at the drivers left knee. The connection on the back of the lighter is notorious for coming loose.

When you get back let us know if you got this fixed.
