I could not stand the thought of the suspension being dirty so I pulled the wheels off and cleaned everything up. Here is a before and after pic of cleaning just the A-arms. I then cleaned the entire wheel well and put ArmourAll on the plastic. Then I cleaned the inside of the wheels out. I guess this is what happens when I cant drive the car and the weather is to cold.

Instead of ArmourAll, I willl get some cheap black wax and do the wheel wells. Makes them look much nicer and very easy to clean after a couple 3 coats. Especially after I do some burnouts(in the burnout box at the track of course ;) ) The rubber just peals off :2tu:

After a good cleaning I use the Griot's Under-Carriage spray. It seems to be a high viscosity fluid so it sticks to what ever it hits. I usually wipe it around as well. Spray it on everything except the rotors/calipers.

That's too funny............it's exactly what I am going to do today. Remove my wheels and tires, clean up in the wheel wells and put back on my new (to me) 18" stock wheels with my new PS2s. I use Adams Detail spray on anything black and it stays on, is not greasy, and make the black look smooth and wet.

Guessing by the picture that your car is sitting up on the jack with no jack stand support. Be safe man...a neighbor of one of our local members was killed when his car fell on him and crushed him. I realize you weren't "under" your car, but your legs and hands probably were.

Suspension looks good. I love gettin' out there and giving some TLC to the car. If I had a garage that wasn't as cold as it is outside, I'd probably be doing the same thing.

Looks good! :2tu:
What are you using to clean up? and more important, what to not use to avoid problem. Since there is rubber part, brake lines, shock washer etc...
After the cleaning, do you need to grease, oil some parts?
Thanks

P.S. Proof you can remove the rear rotors without removing the calipers.

Joe, Do you have a before picture? Your after picture is making the others look bad. Has your car ever been on a street?

You guys have way too much time. :D I'm letting my wheel wells, aka mud guards, live up to their name. BTW, looks great. :2tu:

Yes, I see the jack in the picture. The Jack alone IS NOT ENOUGH. You must use a jack stand for safety.

Sorry I don't have a before picture, but is was not quite as soiled as Pattymelt's

I use a combination of Meguires vinyl and rubber protectorant and ArmorAll. Using a combination of saturation spraying and letting it sit then wiping it down with a saturated rag.

Baby blue color is correct for stock Koni's.

I did all the cleaning by hand.....no power washer, but lots of Simple Green and 409

Don't forget the inside of the wheels

As my sig says:

It's not a car - it's an OBSESSION!

Having some serious Viper withdrawal depression here in Iowa. High of 5 degrees, salt and ice everywhere. May have to go over to the heated storage garage to get some seat time in. I don't believe in starting it - so I just make my own VROOM, VROOM sounds.

C'mon SPRING!

A pic after some obsessive cleaning from a happier day:

Sorry to hijack, but Rocket, what exhaust do you have or are they just chrome tips? How do you like the top?

Thanks,
Craig

I tried cleaning mine when I was changing the brake fluid.

After about 10 minutes realized that all the coating was "protecting" :) the parts, finished the brake fluid extraction and went driving! heh

Last year I did this to all 3 of my Vipers in preparation for the Seattle Roadster Show. Talk about a huge job!!! Its not much fun by the time you get to the 3rd car. This year I'm only entering one and I haven't driven it much since the last show. Hopefully it won't be as big of a job.
