Many road race their ACR's. There is more than just 10 hp and badges. The suspension upgrade and BBS wheels are a fair chunk of the upgrade price. There is a series for roadracing Vipers. Porshces have sometimes been allowed to compete in the events.

I'd just opt for a GTS. I bought an '01 ACR figuring the shocks, wheels and harnesses were worth almost the $11K difference. Figured the added novelty and sticker might be worth something someday. But the Dynamic shocks aren't very good at all. Either I've got some bad shocks (we'll find out soon enough, gonna dyno the shock) or the valving is a joke.

I say get a GTS, buy the BBS rims, buy some Penske racing shocks and if you want an ACR, buy the two little stickers. You definitely won't find a production car faster around a roadcourse than a Viper (at least until the Porsche GT2 shows up).

Viper Days at www.viperdays.com explains the club racing venue. The Viper Club of America sponsors the high performance driving school. There is also SOLO competition and wheel to wheel competition for those so inclined.

The wheel to wheel race group will be participating in a race weekend at Sebring on Sept. 29-30 later this year. The Vipers will be doing a separate race on Saturday and again on Sunday as a preview race for a stock car event.

Next year viper Days is planning events at Sebring and Road Atlanta. We aslo race at Virginia International Raceway this July and will back there again next year.
