I have a code P1495 Leak detection pump solinoid circuit.. an open or shorted condition detected in the leak detection pump (LDT) solinoid circuit.

Has anyone ever had this go wrong? It looks like I have to pull the fascia and testt he solinoid, any advise would be appriciated,

Had it once on my '98... Took off fascia and discovered last person who worked on car left it unhooked or the hose actually came off, very unlikely... They also have a tendency to crack at the elbow (where the plastic neck comes off the pump to go into the rubber hose). Try and clear the code 1st and you might want to try and unhook the batter for a 1/2 hour. If it comes back, pull the fascia off and check it.

At least, that's what I think the code is for.. LOL!!

Thanks Gerald, yea I did a search before posting this thread and came across your old thread from 03, if I remember correct you had code 1494, I have 1495. Very similar but I think mine points to a faulty solinoid. As if I dont have enought work on the car... I just finished up installing my N20 / Propane with the new MSD digital window switch, it works like a charm and doesn't need to be reprogrammed like the old MSD window switches, on at 3000 and off at 5000. I'm going to finish installing my Innovate wideband then the fasia needs to come off for this check engine light. Thanks for the reply.

I am a newbie at this and need to ask a stupid question. How are you guys "pulling" codes? I am familiar with the tuners for other cars, ie diesel trucks etc, but is there a similar device for the viper?

There is an OBDII code reader you can buy..Walmart has them for $99.

Though for yours it might not be OBDII.

I just got this code today? I filled the car up with fuel earlier in the evening, car seems to run fine and had a 40 mile drive home with no problems

I have reset the code so will see what happens this weekend, What exactly should I be looking at if the code appears again, is it something to do with emissions?

Thanks

Anything pre 96 is OBD 1. There is a way to count the flashes to come up with the code or you can also buy a high end scanner that reads OBD 1.

I have started getting leak detection pump codes also. I can't remember the exact code # but it was for leak detection pump solenoid or switch. I've cleared it twice and it comes back on the second or third time I start the car. I know it runs its test on cold start up so I guess it has to see a problem more than once to set a code. Damn, I just had the fascia off a couple months ago for repair and repaint!

Yeah, that's how I trouble shot the last code was by counting the flashes. Three turns of the key and it gives you the code(s). I was just hoping that they had something cheap so I could clear my own codes without disconnecting the battery...

Many auto parts stores(Auto Zone, Advance, etc) will scan codes for you free of charge if you don't have your own scanner.
