It's been a while since I posted the CPE Turbo install on my 2001 Sapphire GTS with stock motor. I ran into some personal issues in my life and had to put the car on hold for a bit...
Anyway, here's the update:
I took some time off and drove up to Chicago to meet up with Paolo to pick up the car a couple of weeks ago. He had called and said he completed the install for the turbo side mount system for my car.
When I got to Paolo's shop the car was up on the lift so that he could show me the system from under the car for starters. I will have to say that I was nothing but IMPRESSED...The install was precise, clean and the attention to detail was perfect! From the upgraded fuel system with the larger lines, using braided lines for the **** install, upgraded half shafts, Spec 3 Plus clutch upgrade, Eibach springs, side mount intercoolers and the piping install for the turbo system...WOW!
We dropped the car down from the lift and inspected the intake tubes, custom fuel rails, crank case breather, turbo manifolds and turbo install. The welds were unbelievable on the turbo manifolds and intake piping that Paolo designed.
I decided to do the side exit exhaust system utilizing actual Gen 1 sill covers. Paolo hand built the 4 inch stainless exhaust and custom fabricated a 5 inch polished tip.
The install of the system definately exceeded my expectations!
We decided to go for a spin at that point (who wouldn't!)...
I started the car and must say was blown away from the tone of the exhaust and the spool of turbo's! We took the car out onto some back roads that he directed me. The Eibach springs were a perfect ride for the car and made the car handle in with a race car ride...The clutch was smooth and almost had a stock feel to it.
We started out with duing 4th gear pulls to see how the car reacted and to keep the clutch from over working since it needed a break-in period. This is like nothing I experienced! As the turbo's spooled the power was unbelievable! The tunnel vision and pressure from the pulls will need some time to get use to
The side exhaust was a thrill and sounded almost evil under throttle and boost. We made pull after pull for 3-4 hours and with the AEM plugged into the laptop to data log each pull. There were no issues with overheating. The boost was set at 10 pounds and the system was very rich to keep from detonating.
There is about another 100 plus horsepower wants we get the car tuned with the **** when I bring it back to Houston. We can then get it on the dyno can do some more timing increases and back off of the fuel a bit since the Methanol will be turned on and see what kinda power this thing makes.
Now back in Houston, I've been driving around in this crazy heat for 1-2 hours at a time with no issues what so ever accept refilling at the gas station The spooling of the turbo's around town is SOMETHIN! The wine of the turbo's cruising around and then under boost..DAM!
I'll be meeting with Jimmy Voorhee's this weekend to tune the car. I'll post some dyno pulls and looking forward to some addtional power with the **** and great numbers.
I will have to say this about my experience with CPE Turbo. Other than the delay on my end...the experience with Paolo and his enthusiasm for the project and passion for these Vipers has been wonderful...GREAT guy and this dude know's this car hands down! He has built a great kit for our cars and this is just the beginning power level for my project. It will be some time before I decide to take it to another power level with this system.
If you have some kind of mod you want to do to your car and have some extra cash...you gotta get one of these dam things! I can't stop sneaking into the garage to take glimpses of my new beast and know that my car has twins now and lots of joy rides to take

Check out these pics at Paolo's place...beautiful...enjoy!
