so.. the mice like to hibernate in my engine at times..ive killed a couple so far (have the rat poision, the moth balls, the traps etc.. in there).I want to clean it out of the bottom of where the engine sits (as I see a kleenex! twigs, some turds,etc.. in between all the 10 cylinders)

Is an air compressor to blow it out going to hurt it? (if so any type recommended)

Im assuming no...it is ok to blow it out because some guys even power wash their engines? thanks! Kevin.

oh sorry one more thing. I have heard leaving your hood open is good for keeping them off/away from your engine?

When I bought my RT/10, this is what I found under my intake manifold...

Giant rodent's nest. They nibbled on my spark plug wires near the coils, too.

got the same problem but mine keep eatting the poison and keep on going.Have found one but some how he took a swim in the bottom of an almost empty paint can.No idea how ever he got ther.As for inside the car yup they got there too.In the glove box some how and into the back with my seatbelts.Glad i move to the new place at the end of this month so i can take it all apart and make sure none are dead back there.Guess it's gonna have to be a monster rat trap and some cheese

My neighbor had the same problem with mice living in his Viper. They actually chewed through the car cover. Traps helped but didn't get them all. Somehow, he found the moth balls are their enemy. The mice eat them and they die. Other than tripping over a few dead mice from time to time, no more mice in the Viper for him.

If the smell doesn't bother you, "moth balls" work great! Throw a dozen or so in a cheese bag and put it under the hood, maybe by the emissions label. The rodents wont go anywhere near your Viper and also a lot of people too!:D

ps- whats a cheese bag? lol...
pss-some guys said if they leave the hood open it does not attract mice because its colder...

I would adopt a cat and keep it in the garage.....make it a nice cat house in the garage (don't forget a scratching post), serve it shrimp every time it brings you a mouse carcass and you'll never see another mouse again!

Not sure of your situation ie garage setup, but the most effective thing to do is keep the rodents from getting in.
1)Seal all possible entrances bigger than a dime
2)Eliminate all stored items possible from inside the garage as clutter gives rodents places to hide
3)Absolutely no consumables ie: grass seed bird seed etc....
4)If at all possible install bait stations around exterior perimeter and interior perimeter of garage approximately every 10 feet and one on each side of any opening be it a door or hole. These should be baited on a 14 day cycle with bait firmly secured to the inside of station. The exterior stations are the most important as they will eliminate the problem before it can come in.(these must be locked and secured to the ground to prevent accidental poisoning)
5)The immediate area around garage50-100 ft circumfrence should be clear of high grass, clutter stored items etc. These areas should be inspected for burrows/runs in the grass/soil
Surround car with glueboards 2 deep this will catch some of the rodents but not all. Some are to smart for this.Mechanical traps on interior perimeter walls will capture many of the rest.
If you are wondering a commercial pest management buisness pays all my bills and keeps me awake at night
20+ years of eperience
PM me for more info or where to get equipment.
Good luck

What he said above and yes you can blow it out with compressed air, I would make sure the cover was on the rest of the car to prevent things from flying around and scratching the surface.

How to stop all animals from calling your Viper home.

Step 1: Install E-dumps in the exhaust system.

Step 2: Start once a week, with the Grange door and dumps open.

Step 3: After temps have come into range slowly Rev to 4,000rpm 3x

Step 4: Let the cooling fans come on and cool everything down, close dumps and turn off engine.

The sound and heat will make sure they stay away.

i have the same problem in my garage. i found Blue Death to be about the best rat poison. they just love it. also i bought a car bag for one of my cars. no problems so far. just pull the car onto the bag. pull the bag over the car and zip up. (i also put moisture absorbing packets inside.) i may buy another one next year for my other car.

Use 1-2 rat traps and peanuts with a shell under the car. Mice, etc cannot resist. Put a small slice in the peanut shell and slide it onto the triangular food hold down tab. They pull on the peanut and it is so effective you can use the same peanut several times . Also I have varnished my new traps so they last foerever indoors or out. GTS Bruce

Mice ate the boots off my ignition wires, all had to be changed to a less tasty variety.
They also shredded my hood pad for bedding material.

I have 2 cats patrolling my garage with my Viper in it and have not had any mouse problems. :) However, a guy i know bought a used Viper and found a nest in the intake box. Hope the filters were in there to keep them from being sucked into the engine.

best to clean i as soon as possible an air hose will blow most of it out but when you start it you will know if you got it all or not by the lovely smell if you didn't.
