Doesn't mean they work better.

From the StopTech web site:

DRILLED VS SLOTTED ROTORS

For many years most racing rotors were drilled. There were two reasons - the holes gave the "fireband" boundary layer of gasses and particulate matter someplace to go and the edges of the holes gave the pad a better "bite".

Unfortunately the drilled holes also reduced the thermal capacity of the discs and served as very effective "stress raisers" significantly decreasing disc life. Improvements in friction materials have pretty much made the drilled rotor a thing of the past in racing. Most racing rotors currently feature a series of tangential slots or channels that serve the same purpose without the attendant disadvantages.

I agree. I have StopTech with slotted rotors. The slotted rotors with alum hats look and perform better than the stock rotors. Cross-drilled are obsolete form a performance standpoint , however, I guess they are still the best for pimping.

Drilled are for Honda guys.

You obviously don't know your cars. My 2002 Porsche Twin Turbo and every porsche I have owned (1995 928 GTS, 1996 993 Cabriolet, 1997 993 Twin Turbo) have ALL had the drilled rotors and I have never had a problem with them.

Well, you don't know your cars. Porsche rotors are CAST and NOT drilled.

If they have holes in them they are " pimping ". How many race cars have holes in their rotors? None. How many have slots...All. You want real performance and reliability get slots. You want to be a **** get holes.

On my current Twin Turbo my rotors are not cast they are CROSS DRILLED CERAMIC rotors, enough said!!!

Well, your sig says 02 996 TT which does not come stock with ceramic brakes. However GT2 does, so which car do you have?

At Porsche, we're committed to developing the very best in performance engineering. An integral part of that concept is brake technology. Which is why the 911 GT2 comes with the most effective braking system ever featured on a production Porsche: the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) - a powerful new technology designed to cope with even the most extreme conditions on racetrack and road.

Nevermind I just looked your pic's and you don't have GT2. So, did you upgrade to ceramic brakes on your TT? BTW StopTech design is modeled after Porsche and P pads fit on StopTech. We all know how good the Porsche brakes are. However many aftermarket drilled rotors are not that good if you go to the track. I have seen many of them crack. For street they are fine. I hope that this helps.

In 2001 and 2002 the PCCB were available in VERY limited numbers I was able to order the PCCB from the factory since I did European delivery. On my 95 GTS I had one of the rotors crack and Porsche replaced under warranty, but since then I have had great luck with them. I didn't want to get into a ******* match because sooner or later both just start pis sing in the wind  .

See ya,

No ******* match. You have great cars...have fun with them. Porsche TT is on my list to get. The benefit of getting StopTech is that you can swap pads with your Porsche. If you want looks and will not go on the track the drilled rotors are fine.

PVO had tested the drilled version on the last generation Viper and they failed. They told us that they cracked way to easy. I do not know what version or brand.

This subject has been discussed on the board ad nauseum for the last few years. There is a huge difference in the structural integrity of the Porsche rotor which is cast with ventilating holes in them versus other rotors which are cast as solid usints, then cross-drilled. Nobody should have any doubts about the Porsche's superior braking. They have enjoyed this advantage for years. Adding to their victorious racing heritage, the 2003 24 Hours of Daytona was won by a Porsche with "holy" rotors. If this is "pimping", then where do I sign up?

These are the same people who designed the last egeneration braking system that sucked. The rotors on the last generation brakes were not designed for cooling, but for torsional stiffness under extreme heat. The air flow of the OE brakes were terrible.

I don't put much credibility in the guys at Dodge who dropped the ball on Viper brakes. The one performance shortfall of all of the Vipers was brakes.

These are the people that gave us the Viper, King Of The Hill for 12 years!

The GenI and II are use old technolgy and have given many a ASP kicking. It is common knowledge that on a race track in the hands of a good driver the brakes will overheat.

Could anyone have predicted that Vipers would be taken from the street to race tracks for perfromance pleasure driving?

PVO asked what changes we wanted in the GenIII and gave it to us.
