As an outlaw member of board, I have recently been demoted to not being allowed to use the search function. I need a new power window switch - the double momentary switch on the center console. I recall it is a part from another Mopar vehicle. Anyone recall what so I might be able to find it at a local dealer? If not, I'll be calling Paul Scharf for a used one.

It depends on the year. The early '96 to I believe '98 used a 2 gang K-car switch. Don't ask me the part number.... The later Gen II's used two one gang switches similar to a passenger side minivan switch. If you have the rocker buttons you have the two gang. If you have the paddles with ridges on them you have two single gangs.

When I worked on these I had a pile of them in my drawer. I knew I should have kept them around :irked:

Sorry guys, I guessed it would be a lot more expensive as a Viper part number (remember I'm unemployed at the moment so I'm trying to cut back). At least one person on the board is not a hater and helped out with a part number. I would have never posted if I was allowed to use the search function. I still love Paul Scharf for used Viper parts.

I was surprised by the price too. It looks to be a pretty common switch though. No Viper tax on this one (Mopar or aftermarket)!

Great pic! :D

A hater of what?

Phoenix, you're heading for trouble here. Your search function has NOT, REPEAT NOT been limited in any fashion, and for you to imply same in two different thread is an insult to those who work hard as volunteers on the site. You were notified of this in the other thread and now you take it here.
You have 2,135 posts on this site, you are a long time Viper owner, you have been thumped on in more threads than I can remember to join VCA when you WERE employed and seemed to think it amusing NOT to join.
It's beyond insulting that you would now try to infer that your search function has been tampered with. I just took a look and I don't even see a way to do that.
And have you asked a MOD for help with the search function? Not that I know of....so you have just ASSumed that you have been tampered with?
So knock of those comments. And spend some time learning how to use the search function as that is obviously the problem.

I am very proficient with the search function, just not when I hit the [SEARCH] link and get a notice that says "you are not authorized to use this function." I only know what I see and experience. I don't slam board members or tell people their cars look stupid or the new mod they did is dumb, but honestly, I'm a bit tired of uppity moderators acting holier than thou. I am a guest, and I thank you for that privilege. I will keep my mouth shut from now on as an expression of my thanks.

For archival purposes: power window switch / PWR switch / part number

This is one of the two single momentary switch for a 1998 that goes in the center console

Mopar part Number: 4685434 $30.45
NAPA Part Number: 7306644 $26.61

Neither sources had it in stock so it had to be ordered. Thanks everyone for the help. I should be able to roll my driver's side window down next Tuesday!

An accusation without basis

Michael,

That’s quite the accusation. I just logged out of the forums in both firefox 3.5 and internet explorer 7 and tried the search function. It worked fine using either browser while not even logged in as a user.

As you are proficient with this stuff I’m sure you also tried the search function after logging out. If it still does not work the problem is on your end. If it does work after logging out, log back in and try it. If it still does not work then contact an admin for the site.

But the accusation of being demoted to not being allowed to use the search function is simply not true.

Wow this is getting crazy. I AM NOT A TROLL, I AM COURTEOUS and other than a few sharp comments on the politics forum I am a well behaved member of this community. Three times, on three different occassions, I went to the search function and received a message saying I was not authorized to use this function. I just went again and it is now allowing me access. I have no idea why, and apologize for any comment that could be construed as saying this was done purposefully against me (I thought it was a general thing). Marv, you are the highest person in the VCA hierarchy I have ever met in person and I can vouch for your courtesy and devotion to Vipers. To have offended at your level is sobering and I AGAIN apologize. I mean this, but this is my last mea culpa.

I would say what I said to anybody. Can't speak for the rest.

I can never understand nickle and diming your way through the ownership of a Viper. Buy a Kia if that's all you can afford.

Ugh, poor form. I can understand being unemployed and watching pennies, nickels, and dimes. Hey, he is keeping it and repairing it with Dodge parts, not superglue.
