Ok, I wimped out I had Macedo Motorsports install cruise control on my GTS, and it is great. I just put 550 miles on my creampuff this weekend after leaving the Viper party in Daytona Beach. My right foot is no longer numb after 2 hours of driving. I set the car on 100 mph and sailed up the turnpike, it worked great, just like a stock control unit. I recommend this mod to anyone. :usa:

John, I would die for cruise control, but most of the "purest" here don't think it should be an option.

Is Larry selling this for individuals to install? I take several 300 to 500 mile trips in the Viper and my foot really needs a break.

Larry can set you up, depending on your abilities with electrical wiring and throttle cables you should be able to install it with no problem. I know the purest would curse me, but after the header install next week the car should run high 10's on street tires, that should be pure enough for anyone.

I dunno Daffy - I can make a case for cruise causing more accidents than providing a safety buffer

Absent minded drivers (75% of everyone you see on the streets) "who set it and forget it" and, when they really need to be in control of their car, end up stumbling around trying to deactivate it as they get their feet ******* under the brake pedal (or fumble with the switch and hit ACL/RES on accident).

Now, to be fair, I don't compile reports on this kind of research so my opinion is based solely on personal observation....

First mod I did to my RT, the day after I bought the car, because the next day I drove from Minneapolis to Houston...The only mod I didn't install myself...Mine is actually for the V10 truck, and sets between 75 and 140...performs flawlessly...

Glad to read you love the cruise control, John! Your headers have been shipped from Belanger and will arrive next week.

I'd be happy to put a kit together for you, J Smith. I'll Email you with pricing, although I'd recommend the unit be installed by a qualified (apologies, not to say you are not) individual. The reason for this is simply in case something were to go wrong. Thank you both!

Cruise control for almost any vehicle except the Viper can be purchased for around $100.00. I have installed many of them. Why is it so much more for a Viper?

The one for the viper has remote activator buttons. You will not have to run wiring into the car. I am sure if everyone who owned a viper bought cruise control, it would be cheaper. Since it is a specialty item and not many owners take the plunge, it will probably stay expensive.

I would like to get cruise too, but at around $459.00 (installation extra) I think I will just live with the discomfort in my right leg.

I am curious though, how many people have installed cruise control?

I understand where you're coming from. Makes sense. Of course, what I said is based on my personal experience. So, for me, it increases my safety and helps prevent me from getting speeding tickets! :)

I installed the Snake Oyl version and love it. The remote is velco'd to your steering wheel so if you're unsure of your manhood, you could pull off when your friends are around and they'd never know.

Nothing special about it and fairly easy to install. You're a paying a premium for the Viper specific directions and testing. If you can find the source I'm sure it could be had for $100's less but would then need to adapt to the Viper setup yourself.... again, IMO no big deal if you have a bit of common sense.

I love cruise control - 'cause I can set it on 140mph then hop in the back seat and have a nap. When I wake up - I've already arrived

BTW who is St Peter?

On my 96 Vette Cruise control would not work over 100mph. Haven't put one on the Viper yet. Does the Snake Oyl one work over 100 mph. If it does it would be nice to have for The Silver State Challange or The Pony Express 100.

I think Fuelman can use it at 40mph and every thing inbetween 110mph and even higher speeds.
