During my visit to my local dealership (only 1 of 2 dealerships with a viper tech) I asked about having new tires put on my car when it was necessary. At that point the vipertech tells me the dealership doesn't have the right equipment to mount tires that large.

So a dealer can sell vipers and have a viper tech on staff but can get away with saying sorry your S.O.L. on your tire issue??

He mentioned they once sent a viper owner up the street(to a now out of business tire shop)that scratched up his rims!!!

So in the next year or so when I need tires mounted let alone who I buy them from, where do I go to get the work done if the local dealer can't do it?

That is NOT unusual w/ most Dodge dealers. GREAT Neon and Ram equipment, but not worth investing in a Hunter 9600-9700 for a few Vipers. Same is tru for many hi-end dealers of other marques as well. But IF they earn their 5-Stars, they should refer or 'farm out' the business to a trusted vendor and not make you go looking....... Hunter also has an 800 # to find a 9600-9700 dealer......and it WONT likely have a D-C logo on the door...

As posted in another related thread:

"If you call TireRack ( 1-800-428-8355) ask for Luke Pavlick at ext. 362...he KNOWS Vipers, and will tell you the name of the folks in YOUR area that have the SKILL and EQUIPMENT to mount/balance your tires...often, he will drop ship them to the business for you...he sure has TAKEN CARE of our members in the Ind/Ky Region!!"

Of course prices are ridiculous also at $45.00 to mount and balence each tire. Maybe I need to find another local shop.

Gee Alan, the local shop I use has one of those fancy tire mounters and a Hunter 9700 balancing machine. They charge me $12 per wheel.

I paid $20 a piece to have mine mounted and balanced with the Hunter machine. Definitely worth every penny. Shop around!

I got a few names from Luk at the Tire Rack. Not to impressed with their authorized installers. Very fustrating having to call around to get my Hoosiers mounted and balanced. Called my Dodge dealer and spoke to their tech (nice guy and helpful)but they also don't have the proper equipment. Found one local shop but gasped for air when he said $40.per tire.
whoever posted the Hunter website...THANKS...I found several very
local car dealers who should have the Hunter 9700. I will call them next. Hope these dalers are more reasonable?!?

Quick follow up to my last post here.
First, thanks Alan M. !!!! After checking the Hunter website I called one of the dealers listed. They had the proper equipment,Hunter 9700, told me to have the Hoosiers shipped to them and they would call when hey arrived. Best part, cost is $13.95 per tire installed and balanced. Now I'm smiling!!!!
