...Owning a Viper? I sold mine in November for several reasons, including guilt. With the pain & suffering in the world, does it bother you to have such a luxury? I always felt that if I were donating funds and time to charity, not allowing the car to change me and if I was sharing it (letting others sit in it, go for rides, etc.) that it was alright. I worry about being a stumbling block to other that may strive for one when not able to afford it.
I have cash to buy any Viper (new or used, preferably low mile GTS), but am battling those inner demons again. I realize this is a personal topic, but I figure there must be other Viper brothers & sisters that go through this... Thanks, Happy Easter, drive safely!
Am I the only one who gets tired of people assuming we're rich because we have Vipers? I get tired of the "you must be rich to have this car". I have a friend who actually introduced me to someone as "this is chad, he's the rich guy with the Viper". I don't care if people know I have a Viper, but automatically assuming I'm rich because of it (which is like soooo far from the truth) gets on my nerves. I guess most of it is the general public's lack of knowledge when it comes to Vipers. To Joe Blow, every Viper is a 800HP 2008 $150k car.
I have a very good feeling about this thread. This could get really good

No, you're not the only one. It annoys me that from the kid at Checker to everyone I work with thinks that I must be made of money to own a Viper. I love owning the car, but I didn't buy it to be a show off or anything like that. It's just the car I wanted.
In my line of business (armored cars) any time anyone shows up with something slightly out of the ordinary they are automatically stealing from the company and the rumors start to swirl. Funny though that I paid as much (maybe a little more) for my Viper as the three guys that own GTO's, the many lifted trucks, and the Bimmers and Mercedes.
Almost everyone asks "how much did you pay for that?" What does it matter? Maybe it was free. Maybe I have a trust fund. Maybe I'm very good at the lottery. Maybe I work hard to able to afford the things I want. Who cares? I don't ask that of people that own Lexus' or Porsche's. But I guess I was taught when I was a little kid that it was rude to ask questions like that. I digress.
That's enough for now. I have to get back to counting my stacks of money and polishing my gold bars...
i hear you chad. my hair stylist announces me every time i walk in as "the millionaire with the viper". gets kind of annoying but not as annoying as him trying to get me to vote for hillary. i should fire him for the hillary thing alone...
Buy a Gen III. They draw less attention, except from milfs or people that know cars.
Hey Hey Hey Hey now..my gen III has caused whip lash at traffic lights with people going the other way. I guess a gen II breaks necks then. These cars are awesome aren't they
