Sorry but I am proud of the fact that I own a Viper. I worked hard to pay for it. Nobody gave it to me! Not everyone can own a Viper, but then again not everyone can play professional football either! You have to know your place and accept it!

I'm betting there are some ,aside from me, that are not as financially secure as others. I worked my ass off to save enough to buy my 97 coupe 3-1/2 years ago. I absolutely DO NOT feel like I'm privilaged, or better than anyone else, nor do I think that I am depriving some hungry orphan in an under-developed country.( or in this country for that matter) I still work very hard every day to maintain the dream that I was able to fulfill...No guilt here......

It's why America became the world power in only 230 years.

Communism doesn't work because peoples extra efforts don't improve their lives. So Russians would never put forth an effort and now they just can't break the habit of being lazy.

Am I the only one who gets tired of people assuming we're rich because we have Vipers? I get tired of the "you must be rich to have this car". I have a friend who actually introduced me to someone as "this is chad, he's the rich guy with the Viper". I don't care if people know I have a Viper, but automatically assuming I'm rich because of it (which is like soooo far from the truth) gets on my nerves. I guess most of it is the general public's lack of knowledge when it comes to Vipers. To Joe Blow, every Viper is a 800HP 2008 $150k car.

...Owning a Viper? I sold mine in November for several reasons, including guilt. With the pain & suffering in the world, does it bother you to have such a luxury? I always felt that if I were donating funds and time to charity, not allowing the car to change me and if I was sharing it (letting others sit in it, go for rides, etc.) that it was alright. I worry about being a stumbling block to other that may strive for one when not able to afford it.

I have cash to buy any Viper (new or used, preferably low mile GTS), but am battling those inner demons again. I realize this is a personal topic, but I figure there must be other Viper brothers & sisters that go through this... Thanks, Happy Easter, drive safely!

Oh yes, I feel very guilty...every time I look at my Viper, just parked in the garage and me not driving it.

Oh yes, I feel very guilty because the car deserves so much better, like me taking it out to the track and exercising it the way it is supposed to be.

Oh yes, I feel very guilty when I let friends and strangers alike sit in my Viper, take their picture and send them a print or virtual pic so they have something to dream about: become a T-Rex Dinosaur taming Neanderthaler like me...

Oh yes, very, very guilty...LOL

I agree about not every one that owns a viper is rich, but I would think it is a safe assumption the owner of a Viper is much more likely to be rich considering they have an extra $80,000 (even $35,000 or whatever older models are going for) to spend on a "toy". I mean most people don't make that in a year. I dunno, not arguing just a thought.........

I sincerely hope this is supposed to be a joke.
Guilty cause I work 70 hours a week and made it on my own.

If this was a serious question you need to take up drinking heavily and find the number for NOW (NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN).
I am sure they would love to have a greedy, self serving man like you to beat to death.

I live in Vegas and someone started a rumor that I won mine at a casino.

Everyone in this country is allowed to go to school, why should you feel guilty for doing something with your life? If you give every cent you have to some people it will only go towards getting drunk, stoned or to buy spray paint for graffitti.

Madonna uses her money to adopt children. Some see it as kindness, but I see it as taking a child away from their father. She spent enough on teddy bears and FAO Swartz Ferraris to buy grain, rice and clean water for the child's entire village for a couple of YEARS.

Rich? Compared to one of my neigbors I am. Compared to another 20 of my neighbors I'm poor.

I'm happy, and help others when I can (I guess that makes me rich)

I don't drink booze - I think of my Viper as some people's drinkin' money, lol.

So many good points from so many authors... Where do I start?

I can't say I have felt guilty about owning a Viper (for a whole month now). It's the car I have dreamed about since I was 10 years old and now I have one. I made enough good decisions in my life that got me to this point. I worked hard to get here and now I am here and lovin' every second of it.

It's also hard for me to feel guilty about it when I stop for gas and spend half an hour at the gas station letting people sit in the car, take pictures of it, and shoot the breeze. Just driving down the street puts smiles on people's faces, which in turn puts a huge smile on my face.

It's nice to be able to talk to young kids and be able to tellthem to dream big and work hard and maybe someday they will get a Viper too. To see their faces light up when they realize they can do it too is priceless.

There are a million "good" causes out there. Pick a few and put as much effort and time into them as you did to get your Viper and that guilt will go right out the door. Help others and/or make their lives better and that Viper will be second to all of it. If that doesn't make the guilt go away, get some help, because you shouldn't feel guilty about the things you buy/drive.

Let me ask this: If you had $50K+ to spend on a car, what wouldn't make you feel guilty? Does anyone need a $50K+ car? I don't think so. Anything more than a Cobalt or Yaris for transportation purposes is excessive. But everyone has different wants/needs in a vehicle. 22" spinning rims and gold flake paint do it for some people. 4 doors and the ability to forge rivers do it for others. I know why I bought a Viper. Why did you? If you bought it for the "wrong" reasons, that could produce guilt.

Hopefully you didn't steal the money or kill someone in order to get the car. If that's the case, then you are damn right you should feel guilty. :jk:

I say buy another Viper. Just don't be a slave to it. Don't let it own you and you should be ok. But alas, it's not for everybody...

That's my $.02

Buy a Gen III. They draw less attention, except from milfs or people that know cars.

People see as a person that could afford a SL500 MB but, are too American.

No, you're not the only one. It annoys me that from the kid at Checker to everyone I work with thinks that I must be made of money to own a Viper. I love owning the car, but I didn't buy it to be a show off or anything like that. It's just the car I wanted.

In my line of business (armored cars) any time anyone shows up with something slightly out of the ordinary they are automatically stealing from the company and the rumors start to swirl. Funny though that I paid as much (maybe a little more) for my Viper as the three guys that own GTO's, the many lifted trucks, and the Bimmers and Mercedes.

Almost everyone asks "how much did you pay for that?" What does it matter? Maybe it was free. Maybe I have a trust fund. Maybe I'm very good at the lottery. Maybe I work hard to able to afford the things I want. Who cares? I don't ask that of people that own Lexus' or Porsche's. But I guess I was taught when I was a little kid that it was rude to ask questions like that. I digress.

That's enough for now. I have to get back to counting my stacks of money and polishing my gold bars... :rolaugh:

Sweet Ride, I had an argument with a guy about how much I paid for my GTS. He new I had to have paid between $100,000 & $150,000 and said I was lying when I said $45K. Used.

I have had the same type of comments, peoples ignorance always amazes me.Although before I bought, I had the same thought of a Vipers cost.I was stunned when I realized the that they were such a good value.

I just think they LOOK so much more costly.

I would have little old lady's that couldn't tell the difference between a ford and a freight train, stop me to say how beautiful the GTS was. They were dumbfounded when I told them it was a Dodge and come out in 1992. They thought I was pulling there leg and would just walk away.

Your problem is you need to buy a MORE expensive car. I never felt guilty owning the Viper when the payments were breaking my balls. Guilt would only have a chance if I paid cash or the payments were so low that I never felt them. Go buy an S7 and finance it. Those payments will keep you from having rich guy guilt. You will feel like a putz shelling out 10k a month on a car.:2tu:

Right on! A lot of people are just *********. When someone asks me that question, I ask them for their balance sheet and cashflow statement. If they don't have that info, then I explain to them that they most likely mismanage their money day-to-day and have pissed away the chance to own a Viper already. Either that, or I say w-w-w-dot-google-dot-com.

I'm not sure owning a Viper says that you made it, but if you have your own hair stylist, then I think you made it big time. I have to go to barber shop or the "Hair Trimmer in Training" place to get my hair done!!! lol
