you never drive with hardly any miles on it?

I would love to hear how many people have these cars socked away in their garages just waiting for them to become collectible.

If so, what year?
GTS, RT10 or ACR?
Color? Stripes?
Mileage?

Or if you have something else besides a Viper I would still love to hear about it.

Pics would also be great if you have them. :2tu:

Hey Agent, how is everything? I knew buying a car like yours with that low mileage would be tough to drive.... But hey, lifes short, you only live once... Drive it, enjoy it... Dont worry about the odometer...

Thats why I opted to buy a car that had already crossed the 10k mile smark... Bought my car with 11,900 miles on it.. But you bought the car well, enjoy it..

I had a 2002 Z06 which I paid $48k for NEW... Sold it 2 years later for $31k, after trying to sell it for months.. My viper, I could probably get close to what I paid for it, 2.5 years ago... Cant complain about that..

25K on my 97 GTS, 15K in the first 2 years, 10K in the next 8. Yeah I know 25K is not a garage queen but in the context that it sees only 1K/year nowadays, it's starting to feel like a garage queen.

Why spend all that money to buy a car and just look at it?? If that is all you are going to do, then you can save yourself thousands by just buying a magazine and looking at it there.

And just how long will this wait be for collectability?
You can't get 70K for an unmolested no mileage 96 or 97 Blue and White, and that was the sticker back in '96. And they are more collectible than most others.
Great investment after 11 years of never driving it, maintaining it and storing it. Less than what you paid for it. :lmao:

I bought mine to drive too. I put close to half the miles on it in the past 4 months, almost as many as the last guy did in his 4 years of ownership (03 service date). I would probably have a lot more miles on it if it wasn't for getting that pneaumothorax last August and being in and out of the hospital twice with the first time being for 16 days. I am just starting to feel a little better but still have to take it super easy so I do not injure my lung again. Needless to say the second time it happened really scared the crap out of me. I hope to start racking them up again real soon. LOVE THE CAR and LOVE DRIVING IT.

I think if you buy the car new you are a bit more attached to it, than buying it used, and you'll tend to keep the mileage a bit lower.

I drive mine every sunny chance I get- it's my feel good drug. But you could prob say mine is a queen w/ 5K miles....

I really believe life is way too short to sock away your dream car. You are healthy now, you may not be tomorrow. Get out and have fun now!

I ran across a 2005 SRT Vert with 850 miles on it. It was part of a car collection that was kept in a climate controlled garage. They wanted $65k for it....

I have an idea. Could you get a speedo calibration kit (like the ones they used to adjust the speedo when you get 3:55 gears), thus lowering the speed showing on the speedometer and slowing the addition of miles?

I ask this because I had 3:55s on my 1st ACR and the calibration kit wasn't installed... speedometer was off when you exceeded 50 MPH 5-10 MPH higher depending on you speed (the gap increased more rapidly the faster you went). When I went 70 it showed 80, thus rolling more miles.

I wonder if installing that kit with stock 3:07 would have the opposite effect? Not that I would of course ;)

You have the perfect setup on yours, in my opinion. An ACR, Awesome custom stereo and a Roe! I'd drive it a lot too :drive:

I suspect I am WAY to old to be able to cash in on a Viper but apparently there are a lot of people that have bought these cars new and socked them away in their garage for a rainy day thinking they would. I looked at a few of them when I was looking for mine that had anywhere from 400 to 2200 miles on them and people were usually asking in the 70k range. Definitely less than they probably paid for the cars providing they were the original owner and bought the car new.

I am paying over 1000 bucks a year for insurance and I know my car will never appreciate enough to cover that in my lifetime but then I did not buy mine as an investment. That said I am paying about the same for my vette insurance and its value has plummeted making it an even worse investment but like the Viper they are fun to drive and that is why I own them. They are the best stress relief after a rough day at work. I enjoy taking them out and hitting the back road and banging a gear or two. I also enjoy washing and waxing them after I am done driving them.

My point of this thread was not for people to jump all over owners that enjoy keeping their cars perfect and in the garage with no miles. There are a lot of different aspects of the hobby of Viper ownership from beating the balls off of them on the track to weekend rides or showing the car. Some even enjoy looking at them in their garage. I say more power to them. If this is what you enjoy so be it. Who am I to say that is wrong. So lets not judge. :nono:

What I was hoping to accomplish is hearing and maybe even seeing what people have in their garage. Now I know some of you out there are sitting on those super low mileage cars since I actually bought one of them so post em up.

I like the way you think. :lmao:

Remind me not to buy a Viper off of you. ;) :lmao:

Lets see, if I put one of them for a set of 8.22 gears I can drive twice as much and still have a low mile car. :dunno:
