Last time I was in London, I bought Top Gear magazine off the newsstand. One of the editors said that the current Corvette didnt have independant rear suspension! What an innacurate, obtuse statement! They must have been referring to the transverse leaf spring, which is bolted solidly to the frame at mid-point, not transferring any motion from one side of the car to the other. But becuase the leaf is transverse, they claimed it wasnt an independant rear suspension. Can they be that stupid?
Then Clarkson, based on his slanted, biased view, dissed the "unspophisticated" American again, saying how Europe abandoned leaf springs eons ago, and compared the technology to the stone age. A spring is a spring is a spring. The only difference between them is whether they are linear, or progressive, the spring rate, and the weight. The Vette's leaf spring is extremely light, thats partly why the ZO6 is so light. Thats a good thing, Jezza. Take your head out of your **** hole.
I know this is a Viper site, but I'm defending American technology against a biased European snob, who can only dream of doing 7:22 on the Ring, let alone a 7:26. What can Clarkson point to, made in Britain, that can beat the ACR on the Ring? Not a bedspring with an outboard motor called the Radical. That cant go over a sleeping policeman, has no roof, no wipers, no radio you can hear, no a/c. It might be street legal in some countries, but hardly rates as a practical production automobile.
When they tested the Tesla, they claimed it ran out of juice on the show. Little did they know, the Tesla had a computer memory of the state of charge. Tesla checked it, and it showed that it was not even near dead, as they so dramatically portrayed.
You can't count on Top Gear to report anything impartially, especially American things! The fact that its an entertainment show, doesnt absolve them from being fair and unbiased, nor give them license to misrepresent the facts. They are yellow journalists, deliberately lying, to assuage their poor self-esteem.
Other than that, I'd like to add that I really like British humor! Clarkson is quite funny at times. Hey, I'm an American of British ancenstry, so its only natural! Anybody a fan of Monty Python?
