Door opening on it\'s own

And it not fun in the rain.

To make a short story long. I meet up with the South Florida Viper club this weekend at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. After lunch we headed for Ragtops ( a car dealer and museum ). But just as we left the hotel it began to pour. The kind of heavy rain you would never take a Viper out into. We made it to Ragtops, saw some great old car and then made our way home.
That night, I went to drive in the Viper out to dinner, But when I got in, and closed the door, it opened itself back up. I reclosed it and it did it a few more times and then stopped. After dinner it did the same routine again. I dove the car home and there it sits.
I was planning on Dodge replace the solenoid. Anyone have this happen to them or have any suggestions?

Hey Andrew,
Check the wiring between the body and the door for broken or shorted together wires. I had one do something like what yours is doing.

Mine did the same. It was the wires in between the door and body like Chuck states. I tried everything else before having someone else fix it. Freaked the hell out of me when I was going around a bend and door swung wide open.

It's the Viper asking you to drive hard or get out. Just floor it and the acceleration will keep the door closed. :D

Chuck, how do I check the wires between the body and door. What am I taking apart, and is it something I need to fix or replace?

also the door sometime will not open when switch is pressed. The thumb bottom gets stuck. If I bang on the door above the switch it will then open.

Right now the cars name is ''Son of a *****''.

Mine likes to stay shut and I have trouble opening it. Perhaps we should trade doors.

Yeah, I think it doesn't care for the way I drive and want me to get the hell out.

Call me, and I can tell you how. [Too much to type! :D ]
And that goes for anyone else that wants to know.

I had exact same problem, I replaced the microswitch at the door button ( got it from the Wizard ) and the problem is fixed.

Thanks, No time to work on it yet so I haven't called Chuck. How easy was it to change out?

The switch was easy to fit, a little fiddly to get to, like yours mine played up more after rain or washing the car, cant think why since it is fairly well shielded from the water......but no problems since.

Re: Door opening on it\'s own

Fixed my door with an old product I had on my shelf. Dub ya Dee Forte. This stuff worked great. Door opening only when I push the switch now. Life is good.
