Electrical fire smell - help!

Every once in awhile while driving I smell something that smells electrical. At first I chalked it up to the truck in front of me. The next day I drove and didn't smell anything, but the following day my wife and I smelled it again.

It's not constant though which is very strange.

Looks like it's time to take it into see the Wizard, but figured I'd ask here if anyone has any theories and if there are certain places I should look for "charring".

Maybe you can set my mind a little at ease that it's something minor...

I would check all the wiring that has been modified, perhaps to permanently install a radar detector or a VEC 1 for example. Then I would look at any wiring that comes near the exhaust piping.

Sometimes you can smell it and sometimes you can't....it might be the resin in your car that might be making that plastic smell...the resin may still be curing from the heat.
