A couple funny things about when my buddy and I brought my car home from Chicago last year. While driving from Chicago back to Michigan, we encountered many people along the way. One such person was a toll booth attendant in Illinois. He obviously knew the car, but was still razzing me a bit and said "Hey, isn't that the one with the V6 in it?". My buddy and I laughed our arses off, and he knew we liked it as he gave us the thumbs up in the rear view when we peeled out of that booth lane.
The next encounter was what this thread is all about. At a gas station on the Indiana/Michigan border, a woman pulled up next to us as we were pumping gas. She got out, took a look at the car and noticed the Viper SRT-10 emblems and said "Viper, is that some kind of new Corvette?". I laughed, gave her the explanation of what the car was, and she just said "That is the most beautiful car I have ever seen."
The whole trip home was a blast, and I knew from that day on I would always have people asking questions about the car. Nobody since has called it a Vette, but if they do I won't take it personally - just educate and move on!
