Please could some of you '97 coupe owners measure the distance from the water pump pulley to the aluminium cross member? I'm trying to work out how much my engine has moved forwards (since I tragically joined the crash club). I'm after exact measurements, and so if you could please state where on the pump pulley you measured to, I'd be most grateful (i.e. To central bolt, top pulley edge).

My gearbox tunnel does not appear to be creased, but engine mounts and bulkhead are out. I appreciate the aluminium cross member's moved also, as the frame rails (upper and lower) are creased to the rear of it. The more measurements and details the better, don't be shy now...and get your measuring sticks out please for a damsel in distress!

Nadine,

If you have a factory service manual for your '97, it has very detailed frame measurement specifications, including motor mount locations, suspension pickup points, etc. All measurements are in three planes (x,y,z).

Fought my way through the cobwebs into the hibernation den(garage) and whipped out my stick to find that from back of alloy crossmember to front face of top of pulley is 30mm. Try checking down at the gearbox mounting to see if it is moved around. That might give you a better idea than your mangled front. Now I'll put my stick away again.

Thanks guys.

Hey, my engine turns over by hand (off the crank, with the plugs out) going to fabricate a rad and fan up to fit, and try for a brief V10 fire-up tomorrow...I long to hear the noise and sound of my Beloved again.

Hi Tom & Sarah,

I have the Bible thanks.

I just wanted some quick off the car measurements...have you seen how in depth those frame dimension diagrams are in there!

Sadly, Viper is a insurance write off. Not taking into account all the chassis and the suspension damage, cost for parts they came up with was £44k (that's $64k for you US readers!).
