You said 4 Viper techs have looked at it and determined that it needs to go back to Arrow. But then you say that you don't want the prposed Arrow solution becasue it may get you a different year block (not sure there were that many changes to the block over the years anyway...) You hve a 2001, so it's not like it's a piston change issue.... So you are teling us that you find that solution unacceptable.

From your story - that appears to be why you have gone the route of getting the DC Zone rep involved. Who doesn't appear to have a clue.

WHAT DO YOU WANT? Maybe I am slow - so SPELL IT OUT FOR ME. If it can't be fixed without another Arrow trip, what's the point of this? What do you want the DC rep to do? ARE YOU A VCA MEMBER? Have you been working with your local club to get assistance? My guess is no.

Call me anything you want - but you still haven't said WHAT THE FREAK YOU WANT - besides a reliable car - well, we all want that.

If the D-C rep is the one standing in your way of getting another Arrow fix (assuming that's acceptable to you - but I can't tell from your posts...) and he says the car is OK at those temps - well, get it in writing and BLOW THE DAMN THING UP. then it'll have to go to Arrow.

Call me any name you want - I've helped lots of folks get their issues resolved and there's lots of folks here trying to help you.

Club president or not - I am still entitled to say what I want as I didn't opt for the spine removal procedure when I was elected.

If I were in your shoes, I'd just run it super hot till it blows. Get the dreaded frankenstein motor put in it. Sell it on E-Bay with a disclosure of the 2nd rebuild. Then go buy a new 2002 sitting on some dealers lot

I went thru the same exact stuff with my 2001.

All I am going to say about it is, if you have never been butt plugged by dodge this way, then you have no way of even guessing how frustrating and aggrevating it is. The car is useless, they wont fix it or even attempt to make it right, you cant sell it, so your left to either file a law suite or purposely drive the car really hot until it blows.

This is suppose to be their signature car, but in reality you get treated no better than someone who bought base Neon for under $16K. They dont care!

I will never buy any new daimler/chrysler car ever again due to way they treated me on this problem.

John Horton is a factory trained Viper Tech and he has VERY strong relations and ties to high level people within DC.He may even be able to get his time and work covered under your Factory warranty !!If not I still think its worth spending a couple hundred dollars for his time and diagnostics..Have you tried to lemon Law your car??

MY brother's '01 GTS from Woodhouse is doin' the same type of thing. I monitored it with a scan tool all day today (88F outdoors) and with the A/C off the gauge (and temp sensor) tickled 240F, which in my opinion is WAY TOO HOT for any engine, let alone a high performance ALUMINUM engine.

The weird thing is that it gets to that temp about 20 seconds AFTER leaving a stop - where it sits at about 210F (nonaggressively) and then cools back down after about 30 seconds. No boilovers yet that I know of... The water pump impeller thing does make sense, but I wonder what the *other* problem is & if it's worth his pouring mod $$$ into the car. Can anyone tell me/us if the "other" 2001 problem is at least fixable, or does my brother have to melt it down and negotiate it back first???

It's killing me that there are some obvious, fatal flaws with the '01 cars, but it's some big secret & everyone has to burn up their engine and go into negotiation to see what they really are! Not bashing any of you guys though. I understand no one wants to go up against BIG 3 $$$ in a lawsuit over a nondisclosure agreement. On the other hand, it seems like at least a few of you VCA guys would be in the law field...

Any advice on whether the car's long term future is in jeopardy (should he be looking to get out of this car???). I'm sure SLTHRN can at least make a recommendation without disclosing any facts...

My 01 was running in the 180 degree area, with 180 thermostat. Starting during the trip to VOI8 it has been
consistantly running in the more upper ranges, while not yet hitting the red area. The water pump ws replaced previously but now I am wondering if it is a faulty unit also.
