0-60 in 3.5 is impressive and the Z06 does it without needing a shift. The SRT-10 needs a shift at 59mph and it that is included in it's 3.9 0-60. I'm not sure where you read 11.2 1/4 mile? Maybe it's the same place MT gets their times, buy 'adjusting' for conditions. Yeah, the adjustometer deletes tenths of a second and adds MPH for every couple degrees ambient temp and humidity and altitude and dollars spent advertising by GM.

I was out at the bar while I was home and saw a few guys I went to highschool with which was only 5 years ago but anyway. They said hey i heard you bought a Viper , I say yup i hear you got a blown stang that claims to run low 10's. He says yah sure do. SO I said i'll let you pick, you can race the Viper with Nitrous or the Mustang with nitrous. He says " I wanna piece of the Viper" i said great call me tomorrow. We meet up in my mustang and he asks, wheres the viper i said follow me its at the house waiting. He pulls up and sees her sittin there and thats when he lost his balls, sayin " oh my cars not runnin right blah blah blah but i'll race you some other time, when he knows i'm deploying back overseas. needless to say he chickened out. Vipers in person are intimidating!!

Mopar: Glad you're back to being a snot. ;)

Actually, the numbers are way too close to matter realistically. Any stock Viper can kill any stock C5. A stock C6 Z06 can beat a Viper with a good driver and a little luck. Therefore, it's understandable that a C5 vette owner would feel intimidated next to a Viper. A Z06 pulling up next to a Viper? May the best man (...or woman) win! :2tu:

LOL I was merely giving data to compare and contrast, seems these drivers are lacking. I agree 100% neither car will DOMINATE the other rather performance will be really close. And THAT is what makes racing fun. :2tu:

Come on guys if the tables were turned you would be scared sh*tless if a Viper showed up and you were in a Vette. It's called reality! LOL
Well the tables ARE being turned right now as we BS.. Look out DC.- And this is why I just ordered a new zo6. Take a look at the current motor trend AND car and driver magazines. BOTH just tested a STOCK zo6 and raved about it and also reported a 0-60 time of 3.5 and 3.7 with 1/4 mile at 11.2 WOW.. No new Viper coupe will even be in line with those numbers. We will have to add all sorts of bolt ons to compete AND the new zo6 is only $65,000 msrp, $69,500 fully loaded (with a ridiculous GPS). Both magazines quoted " Race super car and Ferrari eater " right out of the box. They also said they would be testing the new Viper coupe next month. Read it and compare and without excuses. Ill keep my GTS but cant wait to compete in my new zo6. Oh, and I will wave back.
Still just a lameo one in a million plus Vette. I'm sure you feel sooooo special! LOL

At $65,000 PLUS you will not see these cars everywhere like you do now-believe me-and when you do, stock for stock, YOU will be in their rear view mirror. I feel very special with that. I like to buy the best performance car I can, not just because its a dodge. LOL with that !!

..........SRT-10: 0-60 in 3.9 and 1/4 mile in 11.7 at 123

No way the SRT-10 coupe will be near those numbers? Looks in the middle to me.
Ferrari Eater? Maybe the old ones, but an F430 shows 0-60 in 3.5 and the 1/4 in 11.7 @ 120 in Road and Track (Compare to above times)

Sounds like a group of fast cars, not MY CORVETTE IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY on a Viper Club Site. You don't even have it yet.

Two questions: How much are you paying?(Please don't say they are going for MSRP) and when will you get yours? I made a deal at 67,500 with the polished wheel option in le mans winning yellow. This is a firm order and I will get a build date next month. You are right, if you wait until a dealer has one, it will be initially way above MSRP. By the way dont be too sensitive, on the corvette site you will sometimes see corvette owners say they are trading for a Viper or Porsche. Hey maybe when DC reads these threads they will make the new coupe a super car.

I'm not sensitive. Just seems odd to me to see quite a few people dismiss the slower times and exaggerate the fast ones, in a site with a Viper foundation and following. Maybe if I created a name...Bowtieguy427 and went to the Z06 forums spreading the gospel of Vipers to the unbelievers....but I don't. Doesn't make sense to me. I appreciate that the C6 Z06 Vette is a made in the USA fast car.
My car isn't stock, so I won't be seeing a stock Z06 taillights unless he/she is ahead of me in traffic.

Racing these two cars on the street would be insane and require a HUGE area. Being able to go 120+ in a 1/4 means serious speeds if the race lasted any longer than 15 seconds. I only race at my local 1/8 mile, and even if I had 700+hp, it would make little difference on street tires in that distance. Traction is limited in anything above 350rwhp, as the Z06 guys will soon find out. The computer nanny will make the car slower, saving the tires, but loosing the race even in comp mode. To get these great 'published' times I bet the computer was turned off and many many practice runs were made until they gained the SKILL to launch it. IMO

And yes, Road and Crack lists 0-60 as 4.1 and quarter mile at 12.2 at 119 for the SRT-10(from memory) they also say the 627hp McLaren F1 is 0-60 in 3.4 and 11.6 at 125! What's that thing weigh.....?Idiots!

Hey, where's that guy who was telling people his buddy the chevy dealer would sell the new ZO6s at cost to build up his sales numbers?

Anyone seen him? I said it was BS and everyone jumped on me.

You could have saved a bunch instead of paying $67,500.
Right.....?
Where is that guy?

Two Saturdays I was cruising south of Jacksonville in my 2000 ACR with my wife on a beautiful country road. 6 Vettes came north and the guy in the first one goes nuts waving at me (a first from a Vette owner). All of a sudden he stopped in shock when he got close when he realized I was in a Viper not a new Vette. Sooooooo funny

Vette. I'm sure you feel sooooo special! LOL

Kinda sad when all you have left is to boast about exclusitivity instead of performance.

I guess when I get my GTS I'll have to order mods the same week. :2tu:

I too call it like I see 'em man. :) It's sad (yet kinda cool) in a way that once I get the GTS it will be the least powerful (not sure about the slowest) car in my stable. As for as a Vette on every corner I AGREE 100%, not a C6 Z06 on every corner, not gonna happen when production numbers are said to be around 3,000. Cool car, but doesn't "Do It" for me.

Tell me do you track your car or do you just talk s*it about "exclusitivity" on all the STOCK cars that will tear your GTS a new one???

Inquiring minds want to know.

P.S. How many solid Blue GTS did they make, I know not many?

Mopar:Not sure what you meant by the color of my Viper??? It is a custom paint job though in fact it's a Corvette color...go figure. It was featured in Viper magazine in the September 2003 issue pull it out if you still have the magazine. Anyway I don't track my Viper i'm definately on the poser side of the fence. My Viper however is far from stock. RWHP is 446 and RWTQ is 496 not bad for my extremely high elevation. Mopar until you OWN a Viper you wont understand why we Viper owners are so passionate about our cars. Now you have been "tire kicking" for along time looking for that GTS now go buy one,you wont defend another Vette after you do it!!! Peace...
