I figured I would share my first poor transaction on the forums, which bums me out.

I saw an ad for the Arrow Carbon Fiber Close Out Panel from member 08viperviolet

The ads description

Carbon Fiber close out panel. In Perfect condition. etc etc

You must be registered for see images

I was excited to get it. Well here is the part I received.

I contacted the seller immediatel to let him know how unhappy I was and the part did not as the ad described or pictured. He did not respond right away even though he was online a few times. I sent a 2nd message the following day.

His reply in part:

Not sure what you are looking for it is in perfect working condition. It is a functional part and will help your performance.

My reply to him in short:

I am looking to return it or be compensated because the part is no where near described.
The for sale ad stated "in perfect condition" It did not say "scuffed, but in perfect working condition"

His solution:

I'm not going to take the part back or refund. You have a part that works perfectly and is a performance part. If you are unhappy you should sell it yourself and buy a new one which is more money. The pic is from Arrow site because I had already removed it from my car when I put it up for sale. You might want to contact them and they might do something for you.

So with that I will have to give this seller and transaction a thumbs down. How could someone sell a part that was obviously not in perfect condition advertise it as such and have the gall to have a reply like that? To put it off on me like it's my fault?

This is the 3rd time purchasing something from someone on here. The first went without a hitch, the 2nd went great, there was even a slight mistake by the seller who forgot to do something and had no issue owning up to it and offering to remedy the situation. That gets from me. This one is quite disappointing, figured I would share my feedback.

you should be able to wet flat it down and give it a clear coat, will come up like new

I saw that ad when it was posted. I was thinking about buying it but the price didn't seem that great of a deal. Vipair has brand new ones for the same price as this used one.

***** that it was delivered that way. Not what I would expect from the ad. This is like selling curbed wheels as perfect condition because they still roll.

I'm thinking even if your get the scuffs out your car will rub in the same areas and rescuff it. Just saying.

I was faced with the same scratches on a client of ours that's a VCA member on the board (Nader). Was able to polish most of the scuffs out leaving a like new finish using Adam's Polishes Fine Machine Polish and Adam's Americana paste wax. Give it a try if the seller doesn't come through!

I was just thinking the same thing. If that's the case it's kind of silly to make that part out of carbon fiber if it's destined to scuff like that from use. JMO.

I believe that all sellers should disclosure any kind of scratches or defects on used items, I did see rims for sale and the seller pointed out all curb rashes on the rim to show his honesty, I guess there's not much you can do but let it go.

The majority of CF parts today are sold for aesthetics. For the buyer to not make it aware that the part he was selling has scuffs or shows heavy wear is dishonest. Even if it still functions perfectly, that does not mean it shouldn't look good. This is a Viper, not a fox body mustang.

The fact that the seller did not post pictures of the actual item, instead using stock pics off of a website makes me question his motives.

I am glad to see some people understand. Just to be clear, my issue is not that these apparently get scratched. The part was advertised as in perfect condition. The picture showed a part in perfect condition. A part in perfect condition is what I expected.

The issue I have is how the anyone could think this is in perfect condition, advertise it as such and to offer a solution as "sell it yourself and buy an new one" is complete horse ****. ( I have bought and sold enough online in the last 15 years as a hobby to buy a new Viper if I wanted and have never pulled this kind of stunt)

If I knew it was scratched, I would not have bought, plain and simple. I tried working with him to find a resolution of either compensation or return it.

And now that you mention it Blacksnake99, that makes me wonder too.

The FS ad said

Removed because went with K & N system and will not fit

then his final PM to me states

The pic is from Arrow site because I had already removed it from my car when I put it up for sale.

Why not just take a pic of the actual part? And he asked me to pay paypal as a gift, which I did not, I paid the extra fees so I was protected. I already chalked this up as a loss, figured I would share.

I can't believe people's response to this thread. Doesn't matter if you could easily repair it or transform it to become Beyonce dancing on top of your hood. Please think before replying. It also doesn't matter if it will scuff again after repair or it can add 2 million horsepower to his car. Do I have to spell out the issue here?

Guy sold him a part which was described "In Perfect Condition". I don't even think that this item can even be described as slightly used. It is basically damaged and scuffed. If I were the buyer, dispute the Credit Card charges if you paid by CC.

I wanted to give him a chance to come to a resolution after I received the part on Sat. His first reply came Sun. His final reply was 2 hrs ago right before I created this thread. On other forums I am on we have a "feedback system" (be it similar to ebay or a whole feedback subforum used strictly for feedback) So I figured this deserved some feedback. Finally I have never had to dispute charges on a CC, so it is something to look into I guess.

Here is the deal, regardless if the carbon fiber will scratch or not you paid for a part in perfect condition. This is why I disclose everything in my for sale ads and document all defects and even call the buyer to ensure they understand what they are getting, particulary important for used parts. Call your credit card company, get a charge back. When your money is returned then take the 5 bucks and mail it back to the seller with a nice letter stating disclosure is important. This type of crap ****** me off. I sold a set of valve cover gaskets to a customer. UPS broke them, customer sent me photos. I immediately refunded the customers money and handled the ups side. Claim disapproved by ups. I ate the loss and called it a day, not the customers fault.

Dispute via CC. You may end up eating charges to ship it back, but hell it's worth a shot then buy one from Vipair.

Foolish to try and BS a VCA member.

One thing I hate about this community is I find some members to completely BS about the products they sell to other members, which ruins it for the honest sellers. I was suppose to purchase a "part" from a member who told me it was in perfect condition, drove to meet with him and when I arrived it was cracked and damaged. He looked at me and said "Ohhhh, I didn't see that", LOL yeah F*cking Right!!!!

I had mine cleared so if that is original it might not be so easy to get out other than clearing it.

Not sure why the good rubs on it. I tried to put a foam spacer on the hood to protect it from scratching but then the hood wouldn't close.
