I finally treated my snake to a little drag racing at MIR in front of 1000 or so punks, mostly imports. MIR hosted the last racing event of the year, World Cup Nationals, both domestic and imports. This was my first drag event and boy was it the ultimate thrill ride. I was a bit intimidated at first, especially watching the little imports turn 10's and 11's. Lucky for me I was put in the Wild Street class along with the traditional race cars. Thanks to this board, I rehearsed all the usual things (rpm launch, tire pressure, etc.) while in the staging lane. Then OMG, it was time to put up or shut up. I pulled into the burnout area, broke the tires loose for a couple of seconds, then pulled up to the tree. All I can remember is holding the rpm's at 2800 or so, watching the tree, then blast off. My reaction time wasn't the greatest but overall I can't complain for the first time. My first pass yeilded a 12.7 @119mph, the second pass was slightly lower at 12.4 @123mph. One thing for sure, your reaction time will dictate the end result. I also noticed, Vipers get all the attention win or loose.

BTW, my car is relatively stock except for headers. As for the next step, I will be visiting my local viper tech, Jason Heffner to see if he would be willing to convince my wife I need a 510 speciality package for XMAS.

I couldn't make it but a friend of mine went and mentioned that he saw a silver RT/10. At least I know what it ran. Good times for your first passes. Who won the domestic vs. import competition?

kevin,
your reaction time has absolutely nothing to do with your E.T. the clock does not start until you move. if you sat there for 5 minute, then left, you would still have went 12.4, 12.7 . the 60' time has alot to do with it though. good mph you had though. what were you 60' times?

It must be something about silver vipers in maryland.. I flew out and bought mine from a mortgage broker in Baltimore.. Drove it to chicago and a few weeks later hit the track. 11's all day long.

With your 12.4 and a 2.0 60 ft, I'd expect you could run a 12.1 with a 1.9 sixty. Not to mention that as you run the car at the track your times usually pick up simply with the computer `relearning' and running leaner. About 4 passes and my car usually makes it's best times.

Congrats and keep racing!!
