I want to know outside of all the safety benefits you get from installing one. Is it practical and that beneficial over my standard lap belt. I don't road course my car(may try it one day)and I may occasionally take it to the drags. 90% of my cars use is cruising it. Yes I would feel safer every time I flog it but it looks like its a pain in the butt! Clutters the interior somewhat also? Don't get me wrong they look good but I don't want to waste my money. If anyone has pics please post. Thanks

5 and 6 point harnesses will HOLD you quite well...could face a legal issue using those alone on the street as they are NOT DOT approved as a substitute for original 3 point belts, by my recollection. A passenger may especially become a "problem" if an incident were to occur.

There are two Vipers in the garage...ACR with factory setup (5 point and std. 3 point) and an 01 GTS with std. 3 point and "Woodhouse added" 5 point system. I personally seldom wear the 5 point, and have NOT worn both sets ever. I'm NOT doubting the safety aspect of the 5 point, just the comfort aspect of OEM 3 point for day to day use. I know folks that claim to ALWAYS wear 5 point on the street, and I do understand the reason.

If you want to see both setups, let me know...you're only about 30 miles away.

Suggest you do a search on this board under for seatbelts or harness or TeamTech and put Henry Cone as the author....much installation info, some pics in those threads. Also look at the tech section on home page and see Andy Levitt's instructions and pics. Hope this helps!!

You are piloting a plastic missile.

Stories of road-way accidents that are almost ALWAYS more dangerous than on-track incidents has made me a firm believer in
wearing 5-pts at all times.

I just wear them 95% tight so I can still reach things. On track they are cinched TIGHT.

Search for Mike Brunton's accident..........

I had similar concerns.
I had them dealer installed. went with snakeoly (tuck nicely away when not in use) have shoulder pads to avoid neck rash.
And yes they take a 1 minute or 2 to put on.
but if i get hit by another car at least i should be okay.
Normally i drive a 99 Navigator so this is a small car for me.

I justify it this way: $1,000 in the bank and me dead

or $1,000 spent and me alive.

And the whole project; install and all came in under $1,000

I got mine through Woodchuck

good luck
