Some of my popular routes for my drives are the following:
(I live in Sunnyvale)
up 280 to Sand Hill, head W
turn right off Sand Hill onto a road whose name escapes
me at the moment but it has a sign that says "to 35,
skyline blvd".
turn left onto 84
at the 84/35 interchange you can:
a) take 84 over to 1 on the coast
- From here, I either swing south and stop at one of
the beaches, or swing north and have dinner in Half
Moon Bay (or both).
- From there, take 92 back East. If its still light I'll
take 35 south back down to 84 and back to 280, otherwise
I just stay 92 to 280
b) go up 35 to 92.
- At 92, either go over to Half Moon Bay for dinner, or
just swing back to 280 and back down home again.
c) head down 35 to 9 and go through Saratoga
They're all great roads and coming from out of state (and from states whose greatest elevation change is an overpass) I really appreciate them. Route 1 is the stuff postcards are made of, and finding yourself as the only car on 1 in your Viper makes for some memorable drives
