Definitely safe. Looks cool? Takes up room otherwise used for things like a spare tire etc. Expensive. Unless you are racing and required to have one, why would you? Most race sanctions require that the cells be changed out every (5?) years of the certification date, like safety harnesses. Just something to think about!

They aren't really that expensive. Speedway Inc. sells various sizes. I bought a few for stock cars.

I wonder what you want it for? Without a roll cage it probably isn't going to provide any safety compared to the stock tank.

If you are talking about a race car, you might want to think about how long your races are and how big the tank needs to be.

The one in the photo would be of the 24hr race capacity.

If you have a race car that lasts long enough to have the five year replacement rule kick in, you are not going fast enough. ;-)
