I used Behr garage floor paint for my floor and a 2 part epoxy from Behr where the vehicles sit to avoid Hot tire pick up. Then I used a Thin vinyl tape to make the borders around the parking areas. It's not an easy task but if you're willing to do it I would like to see your progress & final outcome.

I used the Behr garage floor STAIN and my Viper tires picked it up and ruined the floor. Also my other car with slicks pulled it up as well. Prepped right and let sit for over two weeks without anything on the floor. Actually it says on the cans "resists hot tire pickup." In reality, I don't know of one shop in the world that doesn't paint their floor at least once a year anyway...

Jetmec, how is the epoxy Behr holding up?

I did my floor ten years ago with the Shermen Williams paint. The appearance has not changed to much in that time. It even has great resistance to abrasion. The viper tires including slicks, at worse, leave a mark that wipes off.

It was specifically made for industrial application. The use description included chemical processing areas. It was a two part system and the numbers are B62W101/B60V70. The numbers may be old, however, I sure the family still exists. I put it down on a new concrete floor and had to treat the floor with muriatic acid. I did approx 1000 sq ft and it was a task. To do right it is time consuming, however, it has lasted ten years.

It hasn't even been a year yet but seems to be holding up so far. I'll see after I get all the crud from this last winter storm up. I haven't noticed any hot tire pickup though.

I recently installed a Johnsonite rubber tile floor. Red with yellow Viper logo and safety stripes at the front edge of the garage and leading edge of the steps. The logo is laser cut into the tile and is 4x4.

The company that installed the tile had the logo cut into the tile with a water jet cutting system. The Viper logo was cut out of the red tile and a male pattern was cut from yellow tile and inserted into the cutout like a puzzle. It was expensive but the logo is flush with the floor and looks like one piece. I got the artwork from Dodge for the pattern.

Wow - your floor looks great!!! Best I have seen yet!

Is there a web site to look at the Johnsonite flooring? Is the installation difficult or could you DIY? Are they rubber tiles?

Do you think the company that did your logo would do another one and ship it out (they already have the logo programed and have gone thru the learning curve)? Please e-mail me the approx. cost if you don't want to post it.

Thanks,

Anthony

Thanks Anthony. Johnsonite is in Ohio and can be reached at 800-899-8916. The website is www.Johnsonite.com
The floor was installed by Universal Flooring in Huntington Beach and they arranged for the logo. You can contact Steve Caputo at 714-373-1136. Tell him Andy Weiss referred you. I don't know if they will be able to recreate the logo. The cost was approx. $1200 for the logo alone.

Beautiful garage...I assume you don't too many engine swaps and work in there...

By the way the one Viper poste of the side of the car (Gen 1) red...where did you get it? What is the print on it? It is next to your cabinets and above your Viper chair. Is it a VOI poster?

No engine swaps in the garage yet. I'll freak out if the head gaskets go! Most people feel like they have to take their shoes off before they walk in.
All the artwork was courtesy of Dodge. VOI 2 in Monterey provided the Tom Hale Gen I print. I have a cutaway of the Viper in the work area and Roy Sjoberg (FR.Viper) just gave me a poster of his design of the Viper Speedster that I will put up soon.

Very observant Dixter. I usually park my E55 AMG in that garage so the tennis ball is placed for that car. BTW, the balls are used to line up where I park the cars since I have lucite squares under the tires so the heat doesn't affect the floor when I park after long drives.

OK, so does your wife/significant other drive the cars? I have the tennis ball installed so my wife will leave the Durango parked back from the door (we have a 3 car garage, and she parks in the center) but for the life of me I can't get her to make it happen...

She still usually parks too far foward, and angled...arghhhhhhhhh. I have considered banning her from the Garage, but of course that did not go over well!!!

Ans of course any time I try to review with her one of her "improper" parking jobs, well, you can imagine

Do you honestly think that I could have a garage like that if I had a wife? Being single with no kids is the only way I could justify misplaced priorities like cars and a garage! I figure that if I can find a woman that can accept me this way and I already have these things I
a) found the right woman and b) she can't say no since they are already there!
