What should I expect to turn in the 1/4 mile with my
basically stock 94 with pilots warmed in a water burn out ?
Is it quicker with top and side curtains in ?

Last week I went to the track for the first time(to get a base line) with my stock 96 R/T (tubes, filters and no windows!). I was consistantly in the mid to high 12's. My best was a 12.5@112. Next comes a complete new exhaust and rear gears. I hope to breech into the 11's.

I think all NHRA track rules are the same. They (tech inspectors) will not let me run at all w/o hardtop and windows in place. 12.? is faster than I am allowed to run at my local track with soft top, I must use hard top.

The track is also picky about letting street tires in the water because the tread will track water into the launch area. You are better off lauching dry, with a short burn-out burst up to the line.

Good luck, you'll have a blast!

I would reccommend just driving through the water box and then doing a quick dry hop burnout just to spin the water out of the tires (rear tires at 22 psi). This was reccommeded by Tom Welch.

If you're not sure on the best procedure for launching at the drag strip buy BTR Vipers DVD "How to Drag Race Your Viper".

The best I've done with minor mods was a 12.30 @ 112 mph with a 1.75 sixty foot time.

Bring able to launch your car is everything in a drag race, too much wheelspin and you've killed your 60 ft time and E.T.

Yes, we have tracks here in Hawaii. Oahu and Maui
have the best, but our drag strip here on the Big Island
is ok. The track is straight and flat and has all the
modern equipment, just kind of a county fair atmosphere,
which isn't so bad. However the road out to the track
is the PITS, I've raced on smoother moto cross tracks !
