I've got a '96 GTS and wondering what intake and filter I should get. I've heard K&N's intake, when dyno'ed, actually worsened the performance of the car. Is this true? Which are the good brands, etc... Thanks.

I'll assume you are referring to the twin cone filter set up by K&N. It pulls hot air from the under hood area which contributes to lower performance. Keep the factory air box but put K&N filters in it. Or just put a blower on it. Maybe, a Vipair...

Many on here will tell you to go spend your hard earned money on various products, and unfortunately all they are doing is making them selves feel better about throwing their money away on the same product.

Fact of the mater is that no after market viper intake of any sort for the Gen 2 has proven to make equal power to the factory unit, let alone make more.

Save your money for something that works, unless you really want a nice brightly colored piece of something underneath your hood to make you feel better.

Agreed... BUT, the ACR engine is K&N's and smooth tubes, advertised by Dodge at 10 hp increase over the stock paper filters and convoluted tubes. I'll go with Dodge on the analysis of the parts.

Here is what the above mentioned air-box would look like installed. Most fans on a dyno wont push as much air as the car will draw going down the street. Take it for what you will but I'll put mine up against the stock setup going down the strip, and it looks better too.

Sure is purdy, regardless of if it works. Good for posers.
