Gen 2 dash removal?

Can anyone explain the dash removal procedure on a gen2? I have never removed a dash and want to remove the battery gauge to put the boost gauge there. i've seen others do it and it looks quite cool... just not sure how much of a PITA it is to do it.

i dont remember it being very hard. i took mine out to paint it flat black. it just snaps in. i just took my time and did alot of gentle but forceful pulling. it was like removing the hood - after i did it for the first time, i was suprised at how easy it really was.

I remember looking at that operation in the factory service manual for my '01. I think it starts with "remove steering column." Is that really needed to get the dash off? That's also the same manual that sez you have to remove the hood and then the rebar to pull the front fascia. Yeah... right.

JD, its not hard, just take your time.

Before you remove it, take some painters or masking tape and tape off your A-pillars. The corners of the dash a sharp. I removed mine 3 times one day (don't ask) and I put a few scratches on my A-pillars trying to squeeze the dash in and out. I'm not sure about your RT-10, but it easily happened on my 96 GTS.

take Simms advice and tape the A-pillars, you'll thanks us later

and remember that the headlight knob doesn't just pull off, you have to push a pin in the hole on top of it, then pull
the FSM describes it with a diagram

I only put a couple small thin scratches in mine. Believe it or not, I touched ithem up with a black pencil (black, not the standard lead color). Nobody notices them.

I use Microsoft Office PowerPoint. It's primarily used in the business world to put together presentations. I just import a picture or pictures and it's easy to to add text boxes and arrows...and then you can save the presentation as a .jpg image.
