So what happened for the last 6 1/2 months, that video you posted was indicating something. It was odd to me that it was being revved right off idle. Any insight you might be good enough to share, with regards to pitfalls during the installation. No finger pointing, just learning curve issues. Thanks

Just the 150HP head upgrade and Gen IV crate motors. Haven't found a "kit" with wiring harness, ecu, etc....

Mopar's Gen III head upgrade is the Gen IV set up reconfigured with all the basic goodies to put Gen IV heads on a Gen III. It includes, intake, injectors harnesses and just about every part you need less headers and an optional cam change. A similar kit has been in the works for quite some time made to work with Gen II Vipers. I believe Arrow Racing did all the development work for it. The Gen III kit hasn't sold well because it seems too many Viper owners don't have a clue when a great deal is finally put in front of them. Anyway the kit is a bargain and has crazy potential, but like I said it hasn't sold well. It makes the likelyhood of a Gen II kit hitting the marketplace pretty low. Only time will tell.

FYI you don't need another ECU, just a reprogram of your current unit, which the Mopar kit includes.

No real pitfalls. Just project related delays mainly due to getting already busy people to free up time to work on the project. As you saw once assembled the car started right up.

The car sat in Detroit most of the last few months waiting for good weather and tune. The daily drivability in car tuning is nearly complete.

If MOPAR doesn't release the package it won't be because there are technical hurdles. Only delay I could possibly see would be development of instructions and marketing materials.

If the GEN 2 kit includes everything above in the GEN 3 package not much will be needed short the GEN 3 air filter assembly ( I used a K&N kit) and an adjustment to the throttle cable (with kit?)
Also optional will be an upgraded fuel pump and fuel line.
Pretty sure a tune will come with it - how it will get downloaded I am not sure. Send it in? A visit to the dealer?

Personally I think what makes the final package so attractive is the possibility of doing the upgrade as the budget permits.

Yes, I know the tendency is to do everything "while your in there" but if you are a do it yourself kind of guy on a budget then you can upgrade as you have time and money.

Given that as the GEN 2s age and the affordability factor rises, you would think this would allow more cost conscious owners an opportunity for some awesome GEN 4 power on a budget.

For instance I bet there is virtually no market for GEN IV / V stock headers. Granted they are power limiting but if you are not immediately upgrading the fuel system then it should be fine - and cheap.

I believe he made a bracket that mounts to the timing cover bolts. I would like to know where you mounted your temp sensor?

I'm glad to hear you had no technical snafu's. With the Gen III kit, I believe you send in your ECU, and the tune is loaded. I've got the now discontinued Striker heads which are amazing, but personally I always preferred factory kits when possible, even when they are just repackaged aftermarket parts. According to Arrow, the GenIV heads are very similar to the Striker heads, which I'm guessing, is why Jeff was forced to shut that business down. Can you say conflict of interest.......
Anyway I'd love to see a dyno sheet if your comfortable with that.

Yes, factory reliability is very appealing
As soon as I have a dyno sheet in my hands I will post.

Updates? Pics showing the power steering pump mounting and temp sensor solution would be great.

I made a jig up using the Gen 2 head, then welded alum threaded spacer to the heads. The temp sender I moved to the thermostat housing. I had a 1/4 pce of alum formed to the housing and weld it and then tapped it Works perfect

If you look at the post dated 9-22-2013 there a picture of the engine in the car.

Looking at the engine on the right side you will see a black bracket that is the power steering pump mounting bracket.
It is not nearly as elegant or technically challenging as welding aluminum threaded spacers to the heads however it does work just fine and looks good in the engine bay.

As far as updates go the car runs good, nice smooth HP and torque through the entire range. Arrow is still tweaking the tune (long distance) for the car and I have not had the opportunity to take the car to the Dyno with the latest tune.

Thanks for the update. Any current dyno graphs? How many pickup points on the bracket?

Great build. Any final numbers yet. And i would be so interested in a gen2 to gen4 kit. It just makes sense and don't see why they wouldn't sell good. More so then then gen3 to gen4 kit.
Come On Mopar, give us gen2 guys/gals what we have been waiting for. Original viper look with todays power.

Just a little plug here but Arrow has the powersteering bracket for the gen 2 to gen 4 conversion. I just picked one up and they are working on a completed gen 2 to gen 4 kit.

Here is a little updated pic of my conversion as well, with a pic of the arrow bracket. Another month and I should have everything needed to complete.

what exaclty seperates the Gen 2 engine from a Gen 4 with these heads mounted on your Gen 2? i know 400cc's difference, but is it basically the same underneath the heads, and what HP are you aiming at? 500-550hp?
