Just spoke to Gary. He did confirm that the computer is adaptive and will need to learn the new airflow. To speed up the process he told me to diconnect the power and the three leads to the computer and let the car sit for an hour so the computer resets itself.

I mentioned to him your question here and I think he is going to log on and respond personally.

By the way if you plan on doing doing it before Pocono feel free to contact me for pointers. if not, we can talk at Pocono. it is going to be awesome.

can u guys really feel the difference with that k&n setup and the throttle body??

As far as "feel the difference" i meant the computer readjusting itself.

I can tell you that there is a noticable difference in throttle response with the throttle body. I will have much more seat time in the next few days as I am driving to Pocono Raceway for the NJ Viper track event. It is 100 miles there and back and plenty of time on the 2.5 mile track.

I should have some more feedback when i return.

Well the K&N kit comes with a Dyno graph that claims 14.06 HP increase to the wheels (@ 5,300 RPM). Just installed that yesterday and not sure yet if I can really "feel the difference".

I ordered the TB last week (asked for expedited shipping since I'm off to the track Thursday - but still haven't got it :dunno:).

Adding X-Metal's claim of 13 HP increase (to the wheels) to the K&N, and assuming 15% drive-train loss, that's 31.84 HP increase at the crank - just over 6% over stock of 510HP. I am expecting to feel a slight difference...

Thus far I am very happy with the throttle body. With a 100 miles drive tonight to Pocono that should be enough time for the computer to adapt so I should have some reasonable results to report at the track tomorrow.

As I mentioned, I can feel the difference is throttle response already, even at normal cruising.

We can catch up tomorrow. See you then.

in reality you are prob getting 9-10 rwhp from the K & N, and another company who makes throttle bodies told me that it will prob net 10+ - hp also. If you get 20 rwhp from these two mods its more realistic, still relatively cheap hp.

Ron, you should see your Tb tomorrow, we had some issues with UPS (new driver, didnt pickup, etc). so i payed to overnight it to you.
when you have your PCM flashed it will work well with the TB, when we program them, we dont lean out the top end as much, since the TB can flow 670 more CFM, so when you start adding mods, it takes care of that on its own. the Viper runs rich stock, so we focus more on the timing curve, and removing the WOT timer program (at WOT, the computer stays in closed loop for a second, to maintain fuel economy and emmisons,--thats done incase you are just "passing" someone on the freeway and you dont need full power-so Dodge puts a timer on letting the car go into open loop mode when you floor it, however this becomes a hassle when you start modding your Viper and looking for 100% fulltime performance. i rank this right up there with the skip shift as super PIA's)

Definitely. Was at Pocono yesterday running 150mph in the straights. Car ran great. Definitely an improvement in throttle response and some additional top end power. I was pleasantly surprised at the exceleration out of the last corner on the straight in second and third...

Gary quick question - once in a while the idle stops at 1000 rpm for a moment and them drops down to 800. Should this stop once the car adjusts or is something i need to adjust?

let her adjust for a while. sometimes the idle air control solenoid can hang up because it cant keep up with the abrupt stop in airflow, and it can take a second the ecm to go back into closed loop and adjust.

thats awesome about pocono. get any pictures?

Did you paint the grey area where the exhaust tips are?

Also how do you like the motons?

One more question.... Has anybody put one of x's throttle bodies on a paxton car?

thanks. The exhaust area isnt painted. I striped off the flat paint and polished the aluminum surround. If you want i can send you some detail on how i did it if you are seriously considering it.

The motons are awesome. Great ride, fully adjustable and lowered...

sure we do it all the time. we are a Paxton center, and our throttle body gets rid of a large restriction that the stock TB imposes on the paxton. i posted some pics of a 2004 mamba we just did with a Paxton, BB exhaust and our TB, and it made over 721hp at the wheels and set quickest et on street tires (20" at that!) at the mopar nats

yes, you remove the 4 screws that hold the stock blades onto the shaft, pull the shaft out, insert it into the new TB and use the new supplied screws we give you to bolt the new blade on.

Could you sell a throttle body with a shaft if necessary?

(I ask because my stock shaft is permanently affixed to the stock blade.)

How much extra would that run?
let me see if i can round up a used TB first, if thats cool with you, or i can buy a new one. you cant buy just the shaft, but i dont think stock TB will be too bad. i am on it.

721rwhp is that with the flash from DC also????
