Guys,

I have an opportunity to buy another Gen I RT/10 set up for road coursing (build engine, suspension, etc.) My questions is, are you seeing Gen I's spank any Gen II's out there, or is the Gen II technology so much better that it's silly to go for a Gen I for road coursing if you can afford a Gen II ?

Your input would be appreciated, and any link you can point to that specifically cover this (incase I missed it) would be great as well.

Thanks.

I prefer the GenII Vipers for their amenities for ordinary drivability (and better stock power) but there's no denying that the GenI Vipers were still supercars, and have TONS of torque. Sometimes more than some stock GenII Vipers.

I'm quite sure that the HP difference, and brake upgrades (which you would want on either car for roadracing) could easily be made up with various performance mods.

Now choosing a GTS vs. an R/T10 for roadracing might be another matter, but I'm no expert.

-Dean.

You can save yourself a little hassle by getting a GTS, only because some tracks and clubs don't like to let open convertible cars run, due to safety, insurance, instructor, or other lame excuse reasons. But a prepared car is better; in the NE VCA Rendezvous, my Gen 1 was 3 sec faster than the SRT-10 in the autocross event.

That's awesome Tom. Were you on Michelins or something with more traction? 3 seconds seems like an eternity. Any other cars quicker than the SRT?

Late reply - Ans#1) I was on Kuhmos. Ans #2) No other cars quicker than the SRT (except me.) Yes, 3 seconds is a lot, but on a 30 sec course, tires are perhaps one second worth.
