Don't want to start a war here or anything, but I was just curious about those of you that have or had both a Gen II and an SRT. I am considering buying an 05 and I was just curious as to your thoughts on the differences, and which one is more fun to drive.
Thanks for any input on this. :2tu:

i had a 2002 rt/10, now a 2003 srt/10. the gen III for me is way above what i
had with the genII.

my number one choice was having a real convertable - srt/10 - also being able
to put the top down yourself in about 15 seconds is very nice :2tu:

interior feels much more like a cockpit of a plane - much nicer feel and looks
in the srt/10

seats fit and feel much better in the srt/10

more power and huge difference in brakes (night and day) srt/10

more trunk space in srt/10

cup holder (lol) funny but is nice to have (really)

larger rear wheels (19") looks more aggressive and looks better in wheel well

performance, handling, ride, comfort, much better to travel in goes to srt/10

looks - front goes to srt/10, rear goes to rt/10

opening of hood - gen II looks better when opening from windshield but gen III
is so much easier to work or clean the engine area. on gen II constantly
hitting head on the hood on the gen II but for a car show the hood looks better
on a gen II

feel of the power in first gear goes to the rt/10, this can be change by new
gears for the srt/10 which is not expensive and rather easy to do. i think this
happen because of the larger wheels on the rear. however once you go into 2nd
gear the srt/10 whips its arss from that point on.

shock and awe from kids 2 - 6 years old go to gen II, 6 - 100 jury still out
but i get about the same responce that i received from the gen II.

right now you can get a much better deal on a srt/10 and just watch when the
supply finally goes down the prices will hold or even move up a little, you
have a small window to still get a great deal on one. i for one think in the
future you would be glad you bought a srt/10.

ALL THIS IS JUST MY HONEST HUMBLE OPINION, HOPE THIS HELPS WITH YOUR DECISION,
IF I CAN BE OF ANY HELP PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME. :2tu:

More fun to drive....All vipers are fun to drive. It was hard to get in and out of my RT10, it got very hot inside out and was fast.It was hard to get in and out of my friends GTS, also got hot inside out, but got more looks and was faster. And now, It's still hard to get in and out of my 04SRT, gets hot inside out, gets plenty of looks and it's the fastest. The point is, after being without a viper for a long time, it feels like I'm back in my RT...ONLY FASTER :2tu:

Hated the top(s) on the RT-10. Other than that, I wish I had it back....
Yes, I should have mentioned the great top on the SRT...

I was 27 when I bought my RT. Great car, but as I am getting older I value the easier ride and better fit/finish of the SRT. Both are great cars. The SRT is really what I wanted my 96 to be.

I was 50 when I bought my Gen II, now that I am 51, I just want more of everything. :2tu:

The styling goes to my old Gen II. But I felt the car was beginning to look dated. The Srt-10 is a much better built car. This culminates in a far more enjoyable experience. I just wish I had my old seats back. My ass is killing me...

I think WANTED pretty much nailed it. I think the SRT is harder to get in and out of, which I hate, but I really really like the car!! I've driven my SRT almost 1k miles since I got it a month or so ago, and I drive it every chance I get. I love the fact that it's silver and super easy to take care of. I'm treating this one more like a car! The blower makes it even better!

Still looking for input on this one, dealer is starting to get annoyed because I can't part with my FE for Black 05

I have a couple of thoughts on this. I have had Generation 1, 2, and 3 cars. I now have 31,000 trouble free miles on my 03 SRT. I frankly would not go back to a pre-2003 car for the reasons Wanted above posted. The SRT is much more user friendly. I would buy the SRT10 if you want a convertible and if you like the coupe, I would wait for the 2006 coupe. If you have the money and space, keep the GTS and buy the SRT. There will always be a market for the GTS.

It sounds like you might have already made your decision and just havent realized it yet!
Keep the Gen 2 and go buy the SRT-10. Best of both worlds!!!

If I try to keep both, then I will have another decision to make.

Which one is more comfortable to sleep in.

I understand that well, but if he can pull it off that would be the best. They are different cars the Gen 3 is more refined and has way better brakes and the Gen 2 is more raw. Looks wise it just depends on what you like. I say if you want a change get the SRT you can't go wrong either way.
