Gen III Viper AC much better than Gen II?

Yes I searched for an answer but could not find. I am considering getting into a Gen III. My AC in my 96 GTS was pretty weak. Did Dodge improve the AC in the Gen III? If so is it a great improvement or barely noticeable? Thanks for your help!

Actually the cabin heat is worse in a Gen 3 than a Gen 2 and the Gen 3 blows very warm air through the vents if the AC is not on. I believe that an aftermarket exhaust is supposed to improve the situation.

Real A/C in the Gen III & IV. Unfortuantely they did discontinued the crotch blower

To answer your question, the AC in the Gen III is far superior to the Gen II. The temperature adjustment actuially works and the AC cools the car even in stop and go traffic in the Miami summer heat.

My Gen 2 works great. Never have it up past #2.

My Gen 3 ac works great. I changed the exhaust so the cabin heat is nowhere near what it was.

Gen III and IV is far better and temperature is adjustable. Based on 90 degrees and above in stop and go traffic. On highway runs or extended trips there is only about a 20% improvement.

Also, I am the new owner of an '05 Copperhead.

I was wondering if any performance exhaust will help with the cabin heat, or are some better than others. I know it will be hard to quantify without a true side-by-side comp, but there is always some guy on these boards that knows more than Chrysler themselves, about the car, and can lend a good answer.

I am partial to Borla, but if one is superior for lowering the toasty seats, on long rides, I'd go with that.

I believe that YOUR exhaust goes under the floor and the large Cat caused high degrees of heat. Call JonB (PartsRack.com - Home), get your exhaust cheaper and speak to an expert. I bleieve that ALL the aftermarket exhaust go only along the sidesills and are cooler for the Gen3. Gen4 and Gen 2s have the exhaust down the sides and not X pipe under the seats of crossover pipes.

CONGRATS on the Copperhead! Absolute fact the the SRT10 A/C provides a superior output of cold air volume, and at variable temps!

Nothing hot in the SRT10 goes BELOW the floorpan...its alongside or behind. Even the trans! MOST of the aftermarket exhausts for '05 eliminate the OE behind-the-seat crossovers that are de-facto rear-bulkhead-cabin-space heaters. Only ONE manufacturer has done thermo-couple testing to back up their claims of 125-130-f cooler sidesills. And HF cats will drop those forward footwell temps another 50f degress below THAT !
