Gen IV Side Sill Removal Quandary

I am pulling the side sills off my 2008 Vert. I have done this plenty of times on my Gen III. I have all the fasteners removed (or I think so) but the side sill will still not release from the car. My car had these "door sill guards" installed from the dealership. It feels like the sill is still attached in this area. The guards are fixed with some adhesive and not coming off easily. I cannot even move the top of the sill at the door trim. Looked under the seal, nothing there. Pulled the front of the sill loose and it still binds somewhere in the area I have highlighted in the picture.

Am I missing something here different on Gen IV?

Thanks for any help.

I made a tool out of a kitchen knife that I could get under the top of the sill, does not seem to be attached, I can move it up and down. The sill is loose where it covers the exhaust. It is like it is glued to the car where the side had the first 90 degree bend in it moving from outside to inside the sill. I am very much confused.

Two strips of double side adhesive tape is what holds on that sill plate to the sill, nothing related to the sill holding to the car. One is on the edge, the other is under the VIPER.

However, the weatherstrip is what is holding you up if the connection is not rigid. Pull off the plastic panel that runs along the seat, it is held by 6 trim clips, just pops straight up. After that is off, the weatherstrip pops right off.

Otherwise, it is not impossible there is some accidental glue issue in there.

Lastly, make sure you have remembered to remove the screw up by the door hinge, it does hold the sill on.

I just finish with a corsa set-up last week on a gen4, and it had same problem. whats going on is some extra glue got on there, we use a BBQ spatula and got it loose. the pass side was fine only the driver side had the problem.

Thanks Pedro. Driver side as well. Got a far under as I could, it seems to be right in the middle. I am changing out the rotors and pads now, will put it back on the ground and let is idle for a while and heat the pipes up and see if that loosens the adhesive any.

Some ***** literally GLUED the side sills to the carbon tub of the car with industrial adhesive. A hammer, a kitchen knife with a 90 degree bend, and a 15" thin bladed butchers knife finally got it loose. Did some bending to the side sill surface too. Guess the sill protectors will be going back on. :(

Got it a couple weeks ago. Not blacked out yet, getting there though. :) Will do before and after shots.
