Getting fuel door aluminum cover made for Gen. 1 - need help

Autoform is nice enough to consider making me a fuel door cover for my '94. It will look somewhat like the one that they make for the SRT. My car is in the shop taped off for paint, can someone tell us if the SRT and the Gen.1 fuel door is the same? If not, can a Gen. 1 owner, PLEASE measure the diameter, etc. of their fuel door. I'd really appreciate that. Also, post pics if any of you have altered their fuel door for a better look - except Adam, his is one of a kind, can't get it made anymore.

Before I sold my black 96 RT, I was going to use the 2001 Bullet Mustang fuel door, would have look awesome and took very little to fit it into place.

Shadow, my 94's fuel door is 5 and 3/4 inches in diameter. The opening for the door is 6 inches.

Thanks guys, Mopar, thanks for those measurements. Anyone else know about that SRT truck fuel door, think fit is close? What should I do, have autoform cut me a door plate, or try something else? Anyone else do anything with the Gen. 1 fuel door?

I also thought of trying to use the truck aluminum fuel door, but it is larger than the Viper door. At least it is on my 03 Ram.

Tony at Autoform said that if I can get 10 Gen. 1 owners interested in an aluminum fuel door cover, they can produce one. Who is interested? We can basically weigh in on exactly what we want, a real opportunity to customize.

What Adam has is what I really want, Fasrack made it, I couldnt convince him to make more, BUT there was no one but me asking. Someone else should call (818) 772 - 8443.

SO, Autoform, (Tony 616 - 392 - 4909) is considering making a fuel door cover. It's wide open in terms of look, finish, etc. Would basically look like the on on their website for the SRT 10. Feel free to call him with your questions, we are just in the early stage. We need a few more guys...

I too bought a Bullit Mustang door for my project Viper.... here is what it looks like.

The size is very close, but will take a little modification to the fender opening to make it fit. It is a very nice piece.

I like the new door that is going on the SRT-10 Coupe and would use it, but it will not be available for a while. Ed sould be diving into the bodywork on my Viper in a week or so, so the SRT-10 fuel filler lid will be a little late.

Not any different than any other fiberglass work. Since the car is getting painted a different color anyway (Light Pewter Metallic) it is really not that much extra work. A good body person should be able to do the work, and color match the area without to much trouble.

When I was at VOI in Vegas, someone had a really nice racing style fuel filler on their RT/10, not just the lid. It was georgeous, it looked sort of like this:

It seems to me he told me he bought it and had it custom machined so it matched the contour of the fender by the folks at ZAF. I would have loved to do the same, but he said he had like $1000 in it, to rich for my blood.
