Yes, did it to mine last year. Very impressive on the street and the track. I just ordered a differential with gears and unit installed and then swapped with original unit. What # is your commemorative?
I'm #019 with an OE Gen. IV hood, Calchromed 5 spokes, drilled and slottled Eradispeed rotors, and Corsa. My next upgrade will be a gear/differential swap.
I have a Unitrax built Visko-Lok diff with 3.55s in my 06...great upgrade, although I would do 3.73s at my near stock power level if I had to do it over again.
Just spoke to Devin at Unitrax and I think I have a great option on a Wavetrac unit. We will finish up the deal next week and Ill have my mechanic install when the new polished intake is being installed. Devin was great to talk with and lots of information on ideas and past experiance. Thanks...
Herb Helbig (Retired Viper Chief Engineer) addresses this question in the latest Viper Magazine. Explains the benefits, and engineering advantages. He suggests it would be best to replace the entire axel assembly in 03 cars.
Question only asked about 03 and 96. For 96 Herb recommended replacing the axle shafts too.
I had a Paxton on my 03 and blew out the 3;55's. Replaced them with the stronger 3:07. Still had enough torque to blow off the tires when the revs were up : >)
