This past weekend, 7 of us from the local VCA attended the Moolah Shriners Car Show here in the STL area. The turn out was light for our club, but we had fun. Well, some of us had more fun than others! This was my first car show that I was going to show a car in. I worked a few hours on the car during the week and thought I had it immaculate. I get there fill out the paper work and spray on the last of my bottle of Z6. I've done quite a few mods to my car, aesthetic and performance. Going into it, I was not real sure what the judges would be looking for so I figured this would be a learning experience for me. (although I was still hoping I might win something- umbrella, bucket, etc) I've got a painted Roe S/C under the hood, a lot of stand out interior accessories in brushed aluminum, wing, painted cowl, etc. About half-way thru the show, I notice people are starting to point and chuckle by the car. I thought Awe great, a bird must have gotten me or something. Wrong. I get up close to the crowd and I hear one of them read.. MY OTHER CAR IS A MINIVAN! One of our club members made a sign and put in on my windshield. It was too funny. I had to leave it on for a little while longer. My car had already been judged at this point. However, this is a sad but true fact. I had just shared with the group earlier how now with 3 little ones, the ML430 just wasn't big enough and we bought a Chrysler T&C mini. Jokingly I said not to tell anyone as I've always had the death before minivan mentality. All week I got razzed with comments like, "you used to be my car hero and idol and now your nothing- I've lost all respect for you!" Yea.. just wait till I get that s/c on there! I didn't win any awards, or the nitrous kit or the chopper they were giving away, but as always a good time was had by all who attended.

Good joke Ray.. just remember what they say about paybacks!!! <grin>

Also congrats to Barney Podner in our club who won a Special Interest award with his '04 SRT.

Keep hanging in there. One day you will need the mini van to take home all the trophies. Besides, the mini van serves a good service -- it shows you even more how great the Viper driving experience is!!

Mike, I cannot believe you didn't win anything. Hopefully the judges didn't have biases towards Vettes! My congrats to Barney as well.

Michael has one of the best looking Vipers around. It was crap that he did not win anything.

I'll just say that the judging (a term I will use loosely) left a little to be desired.

I know we had a better time than the Rustang and Chevette crowd however.

Michael,

Sorry bro, but when you give up info like that, you're just inviting your buds to take it and run with it. However, I hear that congratulations are in order for your recent 1st Place finish in the www.soccermoms.com Van-O-Rama. :2tu: Now all you have to do is have Vipermad update your avatar. :D

Ray- I appreciate the compliment.

Dave- Nice photo.. but thankfully I didn't have to trade the Viper off on the minivan. We have three kids, but not triplets! Oh, and trust me, I don't even have to give up info like that to take abuse from these wiseguys.. and I wouldn't have it any other way! :2tu:
