I passed a pickup truck, but was being so intent on driving I failed to notice the strobe lights on top and the words ".....Sheriff's Department." After I eased by in 4th, shifting down to 5th, the strobe lights became somewhat noticeable. I pulled over and the deputy Said, "How are you doing." I said, "I was doing all right till I realized I had passed a deputy..." He replied, "This is a 55mph zone, though I doubt it's easy to go that slow  in that hotrod you've got there. I'll tell you what I'll do; I'll make a deal with you. You let me look inside, and I won't issue you a ticket." I told him to look inside while I popped the hood, sporting the Bellanger headers and all the Viper wizardry. He smiled, we shook hands, and I promised to slow it down. What a guy. A lawman with a respect for American musclecars. Made my day.

Wow, now we can all justify all the crap we put on our cars to our wives. "Honey I'll need this to get out of a ticket someday". That's a great story. I had a cop that was doing a speed trap pull me over because he thought my window tint was too dark. After he checked it and realized it was legal he started asking me all kinds of questions about the car's horsepower, mods etc.
Sometimes I think they just want to tell their buddies they pulled over a Viper.

I got stopped a couple weeks ago for going 70 in a 45; 6th time I've been stopped since December. Anyway, I told him I worked with the FL National Guard (I really do) and he told me to slow it down and have a nice day.

You should have offered to trade him cars for an hour....Might have been a great investment in your (speeding) future.. Never hurts to have a LEO as a friend..

Just a friendly bit of free advice. My good friend is a lawyer and he told me to always plead not guilty to speeding tickets and insists on a jury trial. He also told me to postpone the court date and when you arrive and the prosecutor calls you, you should ask to see the policeman's written case report. If these is no report they have to throw the case out by law here in Connecticut. It worked for me last month for a bogus ticket I received for 85 mph when I was going 0 mph. I was sitting in the grass on the side of the highway talking on my phone for 15 minutes with a customer when a cop arrived and told me I was speeding. After they threw the case out I spoke with the judge and he told me that the CT State Police were under investigation for all the bogus tickets they had been writing.
