Hi Everyone,
Click on this link to see what true H.I.D. (high intensity discharge) Xenon lamps look like on a Viper. H.I.D. versus halogen pictures

I'm going to be ordering the parts to build more soon. Please take a look at the post in the "New Products" section if you would like to read more.

Thanks,

Sean Roe

Sean,
These kits are the real deal, XENON, complete with transformers/ballasts and not just a faux bulb replacement?

Hi Marv,

Yes, these are "the real deal" with Original Equipment specification parts (top of the line Phillips brand parts). This is one of the things I was working to accomplish at the SEMA show. Conversion kits to H.I.D. usually run around $1,100. However, I'm not going to mark them up like other places do. I'd rather make them affordable to as many people as possible so that they could have the benefits of H.I.D. lighting.

Hey Sean-
How many bulbs are included with this conversion kit?

High/lows/fogs?

If this includes at least the highs & lows, put me down as interested.

Hi All,

It's kind of late and I just got back into the hotel. I'm in Indy attending the PRI show looking for new goodies and ideas.

In the pictures, the H.I.D. Xenon lamps are in the low beam sockets of the Viper headlamps (the one with the projector style beam). The high beam socket is the same type and you can put an H.I.D there, but having it in the low beam is the norm. I'm not sure what bulb socket type is in the fog lamp, but I don't think you would want it there anyway. In the low beam socket, you get the benefits of the better light all the time. Both high and low beams come on when you turn on the high beams on the Viper.

Each H.I.D. bulb requires its own ballast. I made no modifications to the stock headlamp assembly for installation and the larger wiring is between the ballast and lamp. While at the SEMA show, I found that every company that offered H.I.D. lighting was using Phillips brand components, even if they replaced the label with their own. To my knowledge, some new Mercedes, BMW and Acura models offer H.I.D. as an option. It's still relatively new and is by far the best lighting available, other than the sun of course

Just so everyone is aware of it, H.I.D. Xenon lights are D.O.T. legal on vehicles where they were installed as original equipment. It is currently not D.O.T. approved to convert cars to H.I.D. Xenon lamps. So, we must state the kits are intended for off road or exhibition purposes only. I live near 2 police officers and neither made mention that they would pull a Viper over because they thought H.I.D. was standard on high end cars.

To help answer more people at once who are asking about the components of an H.I.D. Xenon light kit, here are some pictures.
In one, the back cover of the Viper headlamp is removed to expose the mounting of the ballast in the housing. The other is a picture of the ballast and lamp with my original prototype wiring arrangement for the Viper. I plan to clean up the wiring and write an installation guide before building kits for everyone else. Installation is going to be a snap
