97 gts with a hard start problem. From what I’ve researched seems to be a common problem with the fuel pressure regulator. Can you just replace the regulator? Or do you have to replace the whole unit? I see they make a new regulator for the 92-95 but not for the gen 2.

Your pump assembly is different as is the 96 gen2.
Search the forums.
Just cycle the key and forget about the stupid time relay someone here is going to suggest until you can fix it properly.

Hi OleRed,
Call Mike at Havik Performance.
They are well versed in replacing the regulators. You could cycle the key as goggles suggested but it’s a bandaid and should be addressed promptly. If you send the fuel module assembly to Mike at Havik they will replace the regulator and even upgrade the fuel pump to better survive todays fuels. It’s affordable and your car will start within a quarter revolution once again and also stop any fuel/vapor bleed back issues.

That sounds like the fuel pump outlet check valve is leaking. When the car is shut off the fuel line should remain pressurized. It could also be the regulator.
