Has anyone raced a Z06 yet?

While I have not raced a Z06 in my Viper, I have raced a Viper in my Z06. Though my Z06 isn't totally broken in yet, it is probably at 85%+ of its potential.

In short, the results are pretty much what you'd expect based on the reviews. 0-60 numbers are very comparable, and so a stock Z06 will easily hang with a stock Viper for a short period of time. Of course, this depends on the drivers. I personally get slightly better 0-60 G-Tech times on my Z06 than on my Viper (4.15 sec vs. 4.25 sec, latest results). However, I'm sure there are folks with newer street tires and better technique who can get closer to 4 flat, or better, with the Viper. Conversely, there are probably a number of Viper drivers who couldn't do 4.25 and so would get spanked by a Z06.

Anyway, once you get above the middle of 2nd gear, the Viper will start pulling and will continue pulling all the way to 150+.

So, for light-to-light street racing, the Z06 will seem very competitive, but any true racing (e.g., 1/4 mile) the Viper will win.

I know Darth Vetter will have some interesting stuff to add to this discussion.

Come on Venom Lover tell 'em the rest, do I have to lay some more "SMACK" down here, tell Viper00RT I have the exact same car as him ('00 RT/10), tell 'em how I was glued to your rear bumper at 140-150 going to the track, or how I was 9/10 faster then the Z06 in the 1/4 mile and a full 2/10 quicker 60 ft. times. "SMACK"!!!!

But seriously Venom Lover's Z06 was new and the engine tight, he has now gotten a feel for the car and I think knocked 6 or 7 tenths off the 1/4. But I will say this I do not see ANY way in the world a stock Z06 could beat a stock Viper in a 1/4 short of a catastrophe. Or if we raced now (I have no motor in my snake).

Hey Sean L-96GTS,

I have not had my car dynoed. The best advice I can give you is to bog it off the line. Revs will just kill your launch. You will just spin and that buys you nothing. The Viper has plent of torque. If you listen to the video closely you will see that right when the motor is bogging the most is right when you hear a tiny bit of wheel spin. Had I launched any more aggresively then there would have just been more wheel spin, which again, buys you nothing. Launch between 1200 and 1500 and let the torque get you moving. It is a great way to dampen the horsepower just enough to reduce wheel spin. The car will move off the line quickly and the revs will come quickly. Just watch the video over and over and listen to the motor. I run it all the way up to 6000 and shift quick. I let off between shifts, but very quickly...
