I bought an early 93 Viper and have had no trouble, but don't know if it has ever had the head gasket update (38,000 miles). Is there any way to tell if i don't know the previous owners ?
Thanks

There was a thread with some good pictures. You can get the car on a lift and look for a piece of the gasket sticking out from between the head and the block. If it's a metal gasket you are ok. If it's fiber, then you have the old ones.
Do a search for that thread, it's worth a look.

Got under my car on jacks last week and you can see the gaskets in numerous spots. Obvious if it's a metal versus stock. Check for antifreeze lines.

Go to the dealer and ask them to check the warranty record. You can call them and give them the VIN and they can tell you.
