Heffner dyno results--843 rwhp (corrected) = 31 HP gain!!!!

By my calculations, using Sean Roe's driveline loss factor established by having at his disposal a chasis dyno, an engine dyno and a 97 GTS well before a supercharger was even a gleam in his eye, yield about 944 hp at the flywheel. If I recall correctly, you multiply the rwhp by 1.12, the actual driveline loss. Sean, can you confirm my calculations ?

Nevertheless, WOW !!! As soon as I start making steady money again and some folks have had their superchargers on the road course for a sufficient amount of time, I am gonna have to belly up to the bar !

I noticed you have a stock '97 cam. Do you think you would pick up additional HP by changing cams?? Any reason you stayed with a stock cam??

Thanks Anthony! My car is a 2000 RT/10 so we put a '97 cam in it because it seems to be a more aggressive cam. We haven't proven it, but that's popular opinion. Jason has worked out a custom ground cam that, according to computer models shows a 50 HP and 100 ft/lb of torque gain. Jason hasn't put that particular cam in yet. But we should know soon.

A few months ago my car dynoed at 812 rwhp (corrected) when Jason tuned it with his blower system, making it the highest horsepower, non-nitrous blown Viper in the world!

Kick asp! But I'm confused, what's Treynor's RWHP when not on nitrous? Or is the distinction that, unlike him, yours does not have nitrous available to tap into?

At the time I made 812 rwhp Ben conceded that mine was the highest horsepower, non-nitrous Viper (which honestly isn't that important to me). Yesterday's dyno results showed that I gained 31 HP (corrected) over my previous numbers. I haven't seen any dyno sheets from Ben since then. Maybe he can chime in here. To compare apples with apples, Ben's dyno run would have to be without nitrous since I don't run nitrous. Ultimately, the true test is to take these cars to the track and flog it out.

But, I understand Ben's car is back at Doug Levin's so we'll have to see what comes next!

Congrats to you Gary and great job Jason... As we all know Jason does a great job on what ever he works on....Viper, Mustang and even BMW.....

I think Treynors was something like 836 RWHP still shreading the tires on the dyno. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Once he straps it down, who knows what he'll get out of it..

Gerald, I remember Ben conceding that Gary had the highest HP supercharger car on the planet a few months back, I doubt it was 836 RWHP as Gary's car made 812 corrected RWHP. As far as shredding the tires on the dyno, maybe you should ask Jason Heffner exactly how he straps the car down so the tires do not spin. Gary's car did not, to my knowledge, spin the tires on the dyno, nor did Heffner's 951 RWHP Supercharged Mustang. I am also curious how much boost all you guys are running: You, Dr Roof, Treynor, Executron, etc... I remember a dyno sheet Treynor posted a few months back where he felt the tires were slipping. I do not remember what the #'s were.

Believe me, I didn't forget when I took it out for a "spin" today!! I had forgotten what it felt like to open the Gates of Hell (i.e., stomped on the accelerator pedal)! hahahaha!! Now I remember what the back of my eye sockets look like... :cool:

Here's my first (and only) dyno pull off of Nitrous. This was performed back in January, and the tires spun so badly on the dyno drum that it wouldn't even register RPM. However, since I know gearing and the run shows MPH (you can see where they spun at 115 mph) I can calculate RPM and thus torque. Here's the sheet with the torque line added in red:

As you can see, it's making 800 RWTQ beginning at 3500 RPM, and the torque drops off once the tires spin after peaking at 863. Subjectively I can tell that the power continues to increase at that RPM range (i.e., it pulls harder and harder when I can get it to hook on the road), and obviously with that midrange torque it's making a considerable amount of power. However, since I could not (and still cannot) demonstrate actual HP via a dyno sheet at this time, I ceded the "most powerful dyno'd SC Viper" title to its current, deserving owner.

As was mentioned, my car's back at Doug's. I asked him to take the NOS off the car (can't use it on the street, ever) and crank up the power level on blower alone. We'll figure out some way to dyno this thing once Doug works his magic (maybe Jason can recommend something?), and I hope to regain the title for a time, at least until Paolo's car is finished...

Hey Ben!

On my 843 rwhp run my car was making about 12 lbs. of boost as measured at the intake. Just out of curiosity, how much boost was your car making on your last dyno run. How much is Doug going to crank it up to? Will you still need to run the race fuel injection setup with the auxillary tank? And most importantly, will your car be ready in May for Dr Roof's Blower Shootout?

I was seeing consistent 14-15 lbs of boost, both on the street and on the dyno. Not sure how much higher we'll turn it... probably 17-18 lbs. I'll definitely be keeping the secondary fuel system, since premium pump gas out here in CA is oxygenated 91-octane swill :(

I'll join the blower shootout if I possibly can. I don't believe the car will be the issue, it'll be whether my wife can take care of both our kids for several days while I fly off and go racing. It costs pretty major spousal capital to do something like that...

It will be worth the excitement. This is the time to settle the king of hill! Im sure this will be the event that a blower car will make it into the 9's.
