HELP! I scratched\\gouged my stock SRT 10 rim

I live in chicago and need to know if there is ANYONE in my vicinity that can repair this.
it is on the very outer edge of the rim only.

I just bought some hre 547 s for the car arriving this week and was offered $2000 for the set
of original rims from john at parts rack. If I cant fix them and he can, any guesses on what he may discount them?

I read a post on another viper web site of a guy repaing his for $100

Help :(

The going price is $100.00 and the rim will come out as new, thats as long as there's not to much meat missing. Even if the gouge is sort of deep, when they fix it, it won't be noticable as you would think, especially from the veiw when it's on the car.

The tire shops in your area will know of someone to take care of this. Chicago would have to have places that do this.

dont let anyone "paint" these wheels! They are not painted they are clear powdercoated! paint will not adhere to this surface and will eventually flake off. To be properly refinished they need to be stripped and repowder coated. I guaged you can still have it polished out and re powdercoated.

Yes there is a clear coating on them, but you would be better to just have the wheel repaired and leave the coating alone. Don't worry about the gouge, it won't show. I had many gouged, curbed wheels done before, some with the gouge 1/8th of an inch deep, and very wide and long. Only if you are looking for it will it show, and not much then. The coating will be no problem as that part of the wheel will oxidize a bit down the road.

Pardon my ignorance, but aren't SRT wheels chromed? Whatever the finish, I've read good things over the years in various of the car magazines about the Ye Old Wheel Shop. Supposedly, they car make even very badly mangled wheels look new, even if they are bent. Heck, they even claim that all you have to do is send 'em the valve stem cap and they'll work their magic to make the whole wheel look factory fresh.

Well, okay, I made that last part up. But, they are supposed to be very good. It's on the east coast somewhere and you can find an ad for it in many of the car mags. Try AutoWeek first, as I am pretty sure they always have an ad there.

I know the feeling...gouge 3/4 in long and about 1/4 in wide...will wait until after racing season to repair.

wheels are not chrome plated. they are cast and polished then clear powder coated. I just had a small scratch from putting on my new tires, and will probably just leave it alone. I think these things happed to remind us that this is just a car, and if you are going to drive it s%^t will happen to it.

Yes the wheels are machine polished, and clear coated. If you can't locate a place that you trust, I will get you the address for the place that done mine. They will fix it the very day they get it. You'll be out a few bucks freight, but very impressed with there work.

God,
I thought I was the only one to do such a thing. I asked a friend where to get it fixed and he mentioned an outfit in California but I'll have to get the name of the place if you wish. I sanded it down with 2000 sandpaper and cleaned it up. It doesn't look have bad. I'll send it to CA in the winter when I can't drive the car.
